Are you using 'Vista'? That's the first thing I thought of, since a lot of good software made for 'XP' became either incompatible, or 'manually installable' once Vista came along.
IF you already know how to install stuff using Vista's 'Compatibility Mode', kindly disregard my 'sage advice'...just trying to help here...if NOT, then follow these directions:
IF you ARE using Vista, then try this:
- Uninstall it first. If you already know how, then skip on to step '3'. If not, then read on.
- Go into 'Control Panel', then select 'Programs and Features', find PhotoImpact Pro, and uninstall it, either by 'right-clicking' it and choosing 'uninstall', or left-clicking it, then selecting 'uninstall' from top menu.
- Now that you've uninstalled it, reboot your system (just in case...we ARE dealing with Windows, here!) Leave your 'PhotoImpact Pro' CD or DVD in the computer.
- Once Windows reboots, click the 'Start' button, then find and click on 'Computer' in the right column.
- Find the 'Drive Letter' your PhotoImpact disc is in (it should say, with their icon). Right-click it, then select 'Explore' from the pop-up window.
- You're 'exploring' your install disc to find either a 'Setup' icon, or an 'Install' icon. When you do, Right-click it, then select 'Properties'.
- See the little 'Compatibility' tab up top? Click on that, then set everything in that window the same as in the image at this link.
- Once done, make sure to click 'OK', then just re-find that same exact icon and double-click it, as if you were just installing normally.
- This should help you get it installed in 'Vista Compatibility Mode'.
Hope this helps! All the Amazon reviews said it's great software!
