Lens error is usually caused by mechanical faults concerning lens assembly. The lens cannot extend or retract fully, the error is detected and lens error is returned.
Sometimes this can be fixed playing with the lens during extraction or retraction to help the lens asset getting back to normal.
More often the camera lens must be disassembled and re-assembled by a technician to fix the problem.

I am getting a lens error message on my nikon coolpix L2 Camera

Try cleaning out any grit in the lens barrel with compressed air and wiggling the lens gently. If that doesn't do it, the camera needs servicing.

Lens error

I believe the gears from the lens mechanism are broken. It's expensive to repair. Is better to buy a new camera with better quality.

Lens error

Try jiggling the lens. Use compressed air to blow out any grit around the lens barrel. If that doesn't do it, you'll need to get the camera serviced.

Lens error

i had the same problem....my problem was the lens was pushed forward and the third zoom was pushed back. so the lens is blocking the cover(thing that covers the lens) so push the lens back carefully with a cottom swab and pull the third zoomer thingy out.

Lens Error unable to switch camera off

This is probably THE single most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Lens Error-Nikon L2

It seems as a problem with the zooming mechanism (lens would not retract or extended) Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse Good luck!
