While moving my samsung top washing machine, I think my drain hose pipe has moved down the water level. Now machine is not able to retain the water while washing/soaking. I need to pull the drain hose pipe higher than the water level now. Is there a mark in Samsung top load machine, above which the drain hose should be placed? how can I achieve that?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
As long as the drain pipe 'outlet' is above the level of the water in the tub it should be fine but basically the higher the better. I am guessing from what you are saying but you may have to have the u-bend/drain outlet also moved closer to the machine so it is 'as-it-was' before you moved the washer.
Hope this helps. I've posted as 'clarification' ;-0)

Hi,

Although a few modern washing machines can operate with the drain pipe at any height, most machines will drain the water as soon as the drain pipe is placed below the machine water level.

The simplest solution for your problem would be to ask somebody with some handy man skills or hire a plumber to add a 2 inch PVC pipe to your drainage pipe which extends to a point behind your washing machine & then points upwards, making sure it is long enough to be at a higher point than your machines fullest water level.
This should be a relatively inexpensive alteration & will ensure that water does not drain unless the machine is on its drain cycle.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.
Best wishes,
Graeme

Samsung washer will not fill with water

Remove the power for sometime, check the inlet and drain hose connections. If there is good pressure on the inlet then the flow seems ok to the drum. If so the water level sensor must be checked to allow water to collect and cut off the inlet before allowing the drain to activate. If so the controller is a suspect as it opens the drain valve.

A. the drain hose is above the hight of the water level.
B. there is an "air gap" between the drain hose and the stand pipe as the water can "syphon"out.

Gmail.com I have just moved, my LG Turbo drum was working fine but i have set it up and now it wont hold the water, straight in straight out, can you help?????

The drain hose can not be sealed to the drain pipe, and it can not be shoved so far down the drain pipe that the end of the hose reaches the water level in the drain trap.

Water runs out of it as soon as it starts going in

Water constantly running down the drain, and the washing machine repeatedly topping up with water, can be caused by faulty plumbing. The washing machine may get stuck on a wash, or rinse program, caught in a cycle of filling with water and losing it down the drain. When siphoning has started it can stick forever in this cycle.

Siphoning occurs when the end of the drain hose is lower than the level of the water inside the washing machine. It's exactly the same principal as siphoning beer out of a barrel into bottles or siphoning petrol from a tank. If the end of the drain hose is very low, then water can siphon out as soon as it enters the washing machine. If it's just slightly lower than it should be, then siphoning is usually triggered when the washing machine first pumps water out or even just occasionally.

This fault most often occurs when the washing machine has been moved out for cleaning or relocated in a new house etc. It can also occur if a drain hoses stand pipe isn't properly secured to the wall and falls over at an angle.

The drain hose should also not be pushed down too far down into the waste water pipe, which can cause siphoning just the same as if the stand pipe is too low. It needs to go just far enough in to prevent it falling out but it will fall out if not secured properly with a crook or tape. If the stand pipe that the drain hose is being pushed into is too low, then it may need raising. It could have fallen through the floor boards in which case you can gently raise it and secure it to the wall with proper brackets. If it was just installed too short, you can add a small extension piece.

Machine does not retain the water to enable washing to take place

The drain hose needs to come up higher than the water level in the machine, unless it is one that does not have a pump.

Sticks on drain cycle and cannot be stopped

Water constantly running down the drain, and the washing machine repeatedly topping up with water, can be caused by faulty plumbing. The washing machine may get stuck on a wash, or rinse program, caught in a cycle of filling with water and losing it down the drain. When siphoning has started it can stick forever in this cycle. NOTE: These symptoms can also be caused by totally different faults. Indesit washing machines (and some others) for example can force the washing machine into a constant cycle of filling with cold water and pumping the water away if it thinks the washing machine is overheating (possible faulty thermistor). The main difference is that in this scenario, the water is being pumped down the drain and the water pump can be heard running, whereas in siphoning, the water is just running down the drain through gravity.

You should ensure that the plastic crook supplied with the washing machine is fitted to the end of the drain hose. This forces it into a shepherd's hook. The length of drain hose sticking out of the crook should be about 4 or 5 inches. If the plastic crook is missing, I tape the drain hose in.
You could have a bad drain pump solenoid.

Washer less than a year old. Top loading. Will

Have you moved recently, or moved the washer for any reason?

Two things can usually cause that.

First, Some part of the drain hose must always be higher than the highest possible water level in the machine. Remember that water flows downhill. If all the hose is lower then the highest possible water level the machine can never fill since water will drain out hose. So, raise the hose higher than the flat top of the washer and try again.

2A, Inserting the drain hose too far into the house drain. or 2B, sealing out ALL air in the drain line by using a hose too tight in the drain pipe or taping the drain pipe tightly with the drain hose in it can both create a vacuum in the drain line which will actually **** out all the water in the tub. This can be tested by pulling the drain all the way out and aiming it into the tub as you try it. Good Luck.

Washer fills up than starts draining while in wash cycle

Hello , here is the fix-your drain hose is placed to low in the drain line in the wall, it can not be placed in water or it will siphon the water out of your washer into the drain pipe and it wont stop until it hits air. try pulling your drain hose up and out of the drain and get a zip tie or cable and tie it to one of the water valves by the drain pipe placing the end of the drain hose about 5-6 inches inside the drain pipe. Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck it will work.
