with upgrade Stk394-160 Hitachi part # CZ 01341........
DO NOT USE GENERIC IC's ! Also, check for over-heated resistors near IC's...1 to 2 ohms....1 to 2 watts...........T.

This Mitsubishi uses 2 of the STK-392-570 convergence chips---both along with any damaged resistors around them need to be replaced and the set adjusted.
The repair involves getting the center circuit board out of the set to replace the chips and or resistors.
Most shops try to charge 300-400 for this type of repair---both chips can be purchased on Ebay for about 15 dollars plus shipping.
If you are able to do the repair yourself you can save a lot of money---look at some of my other posts here for more information. I have repaired hundreds of these sets with this problem---A white grease called heat sink compound was applied to the back of each chip to quickly transfer heat from them to the large metal heat sink they are attached to. After several years the grease dries out and one of the chips overheats and fails.
If you are not able to do this repair yourself--shop around your area---And if they say it has to go to the shop---keep looking---any good tech can do this repair in your home in about one hour---here I charge 200-250 depending on the set.

If colors are skewed and will not adjust in the customer menu---you have a CONVERGENCE circuit problem.
This model (KP-51WS500) uses two of the STK-392-560 convergence IC chips. I just got home from fixing a similar model with the same problem.
Parts cost on Ebay for the chips and such is going to be less than 30 dollars total. Shops are going to get 300 or more for this kind of repair---and some will not do it in your home---the repair takes about an hour--I have done hundreds of them here in people's homes.
If you have questions or need advice, reply to this posting and I will try to help.

Hi,
This is symptom of convergence output chips failure in rear projection tv, replace convergence ouput ICs in tv to get it fixed.
If you are handy with electronics stuff repair and can solder parts in circuit board then check 2 big black ICs mounted with aluminum heat sink on D board of tv, replace them with same numbers and if you feel uncomfortable working with tv circuit boards, local tech will help you.
Thanks.
