PSN is currantly down for a scheduled maintenance. They will be back up at around 4am UK time. Unless there are further delays with it. The error you are getting refers to this.

There is currently system maintenance that is underway, you should be back online by tomorrow. In the mean time, you still get trophies, and can play offline.

I have been on the phone with the PSN and they said they are having mantanice done on there end. There original ETA was 9pm EST but has now been moved to 10pm. Just be patient.

Rented Movies, Trophys, Games will also have an affect with this issue until its resolved.
