I loaded my washer and as I pressed the Start buttom an error message appeared (F71). The washer door cannot lock, start or doing anything. What does the error message mean?
The computer needs to be reset most likely. You might try turning it off, uplugging the washer, leaving it off for a bit and starting over. They are touchy little machines, I've found, not just your brand either. Mine comes on everytime the power blinks on and off in a storm :0) Best of all have a look in your manual and if you don't have it go to the manufacturer's site and download a new one or look for support there. This same problem happened to mine when it was new and I had a warranty service call. All he did is reset the computer so I was hoping it would work for you. You might be able to get online support at Kenmore.com. It wouldn't hurt to try resetting again. Will the door close when the washer is off? If it will, I would close it hit cancel adn unplug again and leave unplugged for say thirty minutes. Then I would try bringing it on again. I wish I could help more, but if this doesn't work, do look for online support and check to see if your washer is still under warranty. You will need the MODEL # of your washer for either one. I unplugged my Kenmore Elite H3 and plugged it back in. The error message F71 is not longer flashing. It looked like it was fixed but the door is not locking. What should I do now? Everything else looks fine but the door not locked.
i unplugged to reset and it worked!
