Go to www.whatismyip.com and it will tell you your external IP address.
- open windows console (windows+r then type cmd and press enteror start>accesories>command prompt) - type ipconfig -all and press enter - all connections of the computer will be listed. select the appropriate one (wireless or local area network)
That will give his local IP, not the IP of the modem (internet IP)
he asked for his modem IP (example, 75.230.17.45) not his local 192.168.x.y or 10.x.y.z address which is what your method would have revealed.
Just trying to help you out as you are obviously new here. If you're going to take the time to post a solution, make sure you read the whole question and fully understand what's being asked.
If they wanted their internal IP address though, your solution would have been ok !
ok. thanks
Gentle people - I think you've both possibly missed the boat. Parsing the question you would go to the jdownloader website and it is obvious that no IP address is required to download. The asker is asking a different question that "what's my IP address" because he/she doesn't know the jargon.
Fact none of us (experts) know the actual question without further clarification.
I'm new here too and we can all learn better problem solving skills. Some of my responses have been, uh, less than prino as pointed out by some other techs. Hope you take this in the right spirit and I would be happy for critiques of my own work.
Good Luck to all us "Newbs",
