The T1i does not have this feature, like most digital SLR cameras. You should just look through the viewfinder to take the photo, which gives you a much more precise view of the photo, where you can better assess the correctness of focus, etc.
This feature is called "Live View" and is available on some newer or higher end models.

hi there, have you pressed the DISP button (see red line above) or REVIEW button (blue line) yet??
if there`s still nothing appear on the LCD, i assume the LCD connector from the body is broken
you can claim it to be repaired to the store you bought it from, since the warranty still valid

Set the shooting mode to a Creative Zone mode. Press the LiveView button (TOP LEFT OF round selector). The LiveView image will appear on the monitor.

More detail see the- "Live View Shooting" chapter in the manual.

Hello please help in live view mode when i press the button to zoom 0x/5x/10/ the pic is very close in my LCD screen.my question is that when i am at 5x or 10x when i want to see my pics i have taken in...

The zoom button merely zooms in on the display. It magnifies a portion of the picture so you can get a better look at what you're about to photograph. LiveView or otherwise, if you want to zoom, you have use the zoom ring on your lens (assuming you're using a zoom lens in the first place, of course).

I have a new Canon T1i . I cannot figure out how to use the LCD screen to take a picture, like I would on a normal digital camera. I can preview w/ the LCD and see Menu options, but am unable to look at...

Set the shooting mode to a Creative Zone mode. Press the LiveView button (northwest of the round multiselector). The LiveView image will appear on the monitor.

For full details, see the "Live View Shooting" chapter in the manual.

Be careful shooting this way. Not only will the LCD consume more battery power this way, but holding the camera at arm's length will produce more camera motion than bracing it against your face.

In auto mode - can't get the image on the LCD screen - only through the viewfinder. The screen remains in the settings screen

Have you enabled Live View in the Menu? After it's enabled, press the SET button at the centre of the quick dial to turn on/off Live View.

Cannot use the screen to view on Canon Rebel T1i

I wish you know that you need to press LIVEVIEW button marked red Dot to enter live view mode.
Further more it will work in P,T,A,M modes and video camera modes only.Still it does not show live view the camera has a fault.
If this has solved it don't forget to rate me.

Canon 500d Screen won't display object to be shot

First of all, the live view mode will work only in creative zones, that is from mode P. P, Tv, Av, M modes. Put the camera into one of these modes and push the Set button that is located behind the camera, amidst the four direction buttons, and you're live! Also note that to autofocus here, you should use the zoom minus button, a button with a star beside it.

LCD display isn't on

In order to turn on Live View, first put the camera in one of the Creative Zone modes (i.e. P, Tv, Av, M or A-DEP). Then press the menu button, and scroll to the second settings menu (the second wrench-symbol), then scroll down to "Live View function settings" and press the SET-button. Then scroll to "Live view shoot", press SET, scroll to "Enable", and press set again. Close the menu by pressing the menu button twice.
Now you can turn on and off the live view on the LCD by pressing the SET-button.
