Why is it that my Clearco HD9000 projector defaults to 1080i when connected to my SKY HD Satellite box, which is great but when connected to my Pansonic Blueray it defaults to 1080p resulting in lines down the left hand side of the projection? how can I change the dpi on the projector as looked everywhere!

> 1080I

This is "interlaced" output -- the 1st horizontal line on the screen is painted,
then the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, etc lines are painted, to the bottom of the screen,
then the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, etc. lines are painted.

Your satellite box probably outputs both 720p and 1080i.

> 1080p

This paints the screen in order: 1st line, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc.
which some video-philes indicate produces a "better" picture,
i.e., smoother display of moving objects on the screen.

Your BluRay player probably outputs 1080p, because BluRay has been designed for High Definition displays.

So, check the manufacturer's web-site for the CLEARCO, to see if it supports 1080p mode.

My HD9000 works perfectly on DVD and videotape but I cannot get television when I put the aerial into the projector. Am I supposed to use some other bit of equipment between the aerial and the projector...

Your HD9000 is only a multimedia projector and has no tuner for Television. You will need a TV tuner/Digi Box/Satelite receiver to be able to watch Television.
Hope that explains it for you.

Connecting Clearco HD9000 Projector

I'm not familiar with that particular projector, but I believe I can help you get a couple cables to hook them up.

According to some specs I found * the projector has a VGA connection. Next we need to figure out which MacBook Pro you have. Does it have a silver keyboard or a black keyboard? If the keyboard is silver, you need a "DVI to VGA" cable, at least a metre long. You might want a longer one. If your keyboard is black, your MacBook Pro probably has Mini Displayport. That's a bit more exotic, but I'm sure you'll be able to find a "Mini Displayport to VGA" cable.

You can also get adaptors and then use regular cables.

For audio, I believe they're called 3.5 mm stereo plugs. So you'll neet a 3.5 mm stereo plug to 3.5 mm stereo plug cable. Make sure it will be long enough.

Apple sells both kinds of cables. If you want to save money, you might shop around. I don't know UK stores, so I don't know if I can help much there. I buy my cables at www.monoprice.com, an American site.

Hope this helps.

My clearco HD9000 projector works when connected to my PC, but does not work when connected to my laptop. I get a no signal message. Any suggestions?

You must enable external video on the laptop for one. Also, verify that the resolution is within the projector's range. Most likely, you do not have the external video connector enabled. There should be an "F" key with a symbol that looks like a TV screen. Holding down the function key and pressing that "F" key should toggle between the following 3 options:

1) External screen only
2) Laptop screen and External screen
3) Laptop screen only.

Toggle through the above as well and you should get the projector to work.

Is a Philips SB329986 HD enough for Sky HD?

Cant find specs on your Model. If it is HD 720i or 1080i both will work. But then again the Sky box may convert the HD to composit, which makes ordinary old TV sets look fantastic. On a HD set they look even better. don.t worry it will work.
