Power steering can still be full but if pump isnt you will have armstrong steering

Timing is likely out of spec, you need a vag-com to set timing on a TDI. even the dealer who did mine didn't know this and screwed it up. I set mine with this vag-com program from ross-tech and now it starts great and gets better fuel econ.

on the gearbox, between cockpit and engine. On the gearbox are only 2 sensors. one for reverse lamp, and one for speed.

easy. very easy. now the front sucks to do.

I have had the same problem, my problem was that i accidentaly hooked up the constant wire to the switched, and the switched to the constant, causing it to turn off completely, resetting everything. So if this is the problem then just switch the wires in the back of thew head unit, should be the fatter yellow wire, and the fatter red wire

You need a new adaptor...the wires have lost their connection in the cable or plug which isnt user servicable

What model golf is it ? I have a 98' mk4 tdi, mine speed sensor is just on top and to the rear of the gear box. easy to reach, 22mm spanner required. Hope this helps !
