RCA VR5220 Digital Voice Recorder Logo
Anonymous Posted on Mar 09, 2011

I have a RCA VR5320R digital voice recorder. My voice recordings are stored on the recorder, under folder "A," but when I attach the recorder to my computer, eventhough the device shows up under "my computer," the voice recording files (A/B/C/D) no longer appear on the RCA digital voice manager software screen. This problem started after I tried to copy and save the voice files from the device to my hard drive using the RCA digital voice manager software. I also cannot find the copied voice files anywhere on my hard drive.

Your best bet is to play the recordings through the headphone connector to a pc audio line-in connector and capture the audio using something like Audacity. Then output them using audacity to mp3 to play on your mp3 player.

These units are notorious for their failing USB feature.

You need to know what extension is on them such as .wav or .voc. If they are not .wav and Windows Media Player won't play the extension you have, then you might need to convert them using something like AVS audio converter - there were several converters on the web and some are free. This is assuming that you put your comment here because you had a similar problem as the originator. Even if you cannot download from the VR-5520 you should be able to use the software to play them. The software is available from the RCA website. RCA Digital Voice Manager.

My rca vr5320r is not playing the recordings back. when i do try to play the recordings back it shows 00:00:00 with the play icon . one i pause it it jumps up to 3 seconds and goes no further. it's also...

Check to make sure that non of the following apply to you.
  • Make sure LOCK function is not activated.
  • Make sure memory is not full.
  • If you have recorded 99 files in one folder. Try to record in a new folder.
  • You may have formatted the player with incorrect file system (e.g. NTFS or MAC format).
  • You must use the provided Digital Voice Manager (DVM) software to open the files.
If none of this things are you problem, then you most likely have a faulty voice recorder. Check your warranty to see if you can get a free replacement.
