You can not set it to share the memory. Once the video memory is used it will default to try using some of the ram. The 16MB video memory is built into the board on this laptop.

My ibm thinkpad r-52 is locked with bios password.how can i remove that .i dont know the password.plz help me [email protected]

Please note that Thinkpad stores the password in a special security chip which is accessed during boot time.

The only option I know to reset BIOS password in a Thinkpad is to disassemble the system and then use the steps mentioned in the following link

I am trying to find a video card to upgrade my Dell c610 the card is currently 16Mb. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry to advise you, your Dell is a laptop and laptops have a built-in video chip on the motherboard and it cannot be upgraded or changed.
The video card used shared RAM, ie it uses part of the main RAM module/s, You maybe be able to increase the video RAM size in the BIOS, but this will reduce the main memory, so you might want to upgrade the RAM in the DELL.
You only other alternative is to buy a later model laptop.

Sorry, But my IBM t42 Thinkpad with no screen has 1 long beep and 2 short beeps. I suppose those beeps mean something is not right.

This IBM beep code means a motherboard or a video fault.
The video chip is part of the motherboard.
There is one thing you can try, the video RAM uses Shared RAM (ie. it uses part of the RAM module), if the RAM is faulty or not seated properly it will produce this error code.
Re-seat the RAM module, and if it still doesn't work then take the RAM to your friendly computer/repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. If it is faulty, then replace the RAM and with luck the laptop will be operating again.

Forget BIOS Password (Laptop - IBM Thinkpad Lenovo R60)

For that you need to reset factory defaults settings for bios.
For reset bios u have to open back side of your laptop then u find motherbord circuit there.
pull cmos cell on motherbord for 15 minute then it reset to defaults.
Also u can reset with jumper settigns read carefully on mother bord there is 1 jumper near cmos cell u read there " bios reset or clear"
It is on 1-2 position right now set it in 2-3 position then power up then all bios settings are reset.
then again set it in 1-2 its original position.

I cannot run MS Flight Simulator on my IBM Thinkpad R40, probably because the video memory is 16MB and the program needs 32MB video ram. Some thinkpads came out with 32mb video ram though, and now I'm...

You should be able to buy buying a Video graphics card for your specific computer. You should always check with your manufacturer to make sure that the part is compatible with the rest of the computer. You may even be able to find the part on the manufacturers website. If you do not know much about computers, especially laptops then you should always have a professional assist you that way you dont cause any other problems.

Hope this helps! FIXYA! Please leave a rating!

How we can share RAM memory with graphics memory of our PC?

all you have to do is go into the bios, do this by pressing F2 on boot up, when in the bios you need to look for "shared memory" or "graphics memory"
once you have chosen the shared memory you want save settings and exit by pressing F10, the pc will restart and the shared memory will be increased

What Is The Max RAM Limit for a IBM ThinkPad 380XD?

From reviewing the manufacturers manual for that unit, I would have to agree that the maximum possible expansion memory you can install is 96mb. Here is the link to their users guide (pdf).

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/38xhmm.pdf

quote:

"Memory (Option) 2635-8xx/9xx/Axx/Bxx
Ÿ 8MB and 16MB 70ns EDO DIMM
card
Ÿ 16MB, 32MB, and 64MB EDO
DIMM card (max. 96MB)"

There you have it. Although unless you are able to find that specification of memory for cheap online, I would say it's not really worth it to invest in older ram with such slow bus speeds unless you definitely need it. Hope that helps.
