Typically no, you can usually just plug it into a Windows machine or a Mac and it should recognize the drive.
If not you could try looking in the disk management, (Windows) Sometimes what can happen is if you have multiple drives with corresponding drive letters in Windows, the Cruzer Micro may try to associate with a driver letter that's already being used.
If you see the Cruzer Micro in the Disk Management, you can try to right click and "Change the drive letter" Change it to a free drive letter and see if you can view the drive in explorer then.
