Hi I think your unit has memory card receptance unit bad.( the CF card inserting area pins---bent and shorting), or some of loosen screw moving around and shorting. Mostly it is the pin problem. Your local repair shop would charge around $50 to 195 depend on what they really want to charge. If you are going to repair shop, ask them check your CF card female socket condition.) Thanks and best regard!

Can you replace prongs is camera so memory card will read

Wouldn't recommend that you try to replace the reader yourself, as you may likely cause more damage to the camera. If you wish the reader replaced, recommend professional repair (call 1-800-OK-CANON for genuine Canon service).

However, if it's merely a bent pin problem, there is a good chance that you may be able to unbend it/them. Please see the following, as it's worth a try before sending off for service:

Bent memory card reader pin on canon 350d

I found these a while back for the 300D - won't be that much different. You could use these as a basis for having a go for yourself - you shouldn't have to disassemble too much to just get to the CF pins.

I have images on my card, but my Canon EOS Rebel 300D says "no images in the camera or card folder" how can I get them to download. Will they download at a Wal-Mart card reader?

look very carefully at the pins inside the socket.. you might have a bent or broken pin making the camera unable to read the card. Also, if the images on your card are not Jpg or CanonRAW, the camera won't recognize them.

CF Card not found

Ok here is the issues with the Canon 300D digital Rebel XT model of camera. First issue bent pins or broken pins the CF card reader on this camera is Surface mounted soildered onto the bottom half of the mainboard a large ammount of disasimboly is required. After removing the mainboard next you need is a desolder rework station. to carefully remove the CF card reader from the mainboard one messup and it might be easier to replace the mainboard. Sometimes. next issue is the power issue if you have no bent pins or missing pins, and the battery door is pushing on the door closure switch and the memory card door is pusting on its door closure switch then most likely you issue is 1 of 3 fuses underneath the power switch. these switches are the size of a few grains of salt very very small.I charge 150.00 to change the fuses and 225.00 to replace the CF card reader as long as none of the traces are damaged. if they are damaged the main board would need to be replaced and it is around 250.00 + depending on the parts cost at the time. If your good at soldering go for it. if not then let the experts do it.

LCD 3/4 Blackout canon 300D

This is fairly common on the 300D - the submirror ( underneath the main mirro ) has a plastic pin that breaks - the camera has to be disassembled to replace. Expect to pay an independent repair shop about $105 or from Canon $180.

Will not turn on

Check the card connector pins - if a card has been inserted improperly the pins can get bent, shorting the power supply of the camera. The only solution is to have a repair shop replace the fuses, about a $100 -$125 job.
