First of all check ,make sure water valve to washer is turned on. Next take off water hose see if screen is clogged and at same time make sure water is coming through the hoses to the washer. But most likely the problem is the water valve that your hoses screw on. This valve has a electric magnet control one for the hot and one for the cold. Sometimes just one side will burn out and only cold water will run in or maybe just hot will run in. But no matter witch it will need to be replaced and it's easy to do. Just unplug the wires take out the screws and pull it out and put the new back the same way

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
This is symptomatic of a malfunctioning (not closing completely) water control valve- the hot water one, if the washer is hot and cold fill, and the cold one if it is just cold fill!
Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call ;-0(
Good luck,

SOURCE: Washing machine won't stop filling the tub when I

The problem is the pressure switch has failed or the hose is plugged up, has a hole in it. These are usually inexpensive and are very easy to replace. Here is a video this will walk you thru testing and replacing a pressure switch. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. All parts come with installation instructions. Not all models are available.

Crosley Professional Washer. Why is my washer stopping at beginning of fill cycle?

Question edited for clarity. 'field cycle' to fill cycle.

Do you hear water running? Water inlet valve failed.

or

Taking too long to fill. Check the strainers in the rear where the hose connects and check water flow from the hose.

Also try a power disconnect overnight to do a power reset of the control board.

=============================================
If the cold water supply is slow or not entering the tub at all, the washer will stop ahead of the rinse cycle while waiting for the tub to fill. This can be caused by a clogged water inlet valve, the main water supply valve being partially closed, or low water supply pressure from the home.

My washer fills and doesn't stop. I try to advance it to the spin cycle but none of the cycles work. I changed the lid switch because it wouldn't fill at all. Now it fills and nothing else. Tested...

The fill switch is bad. That's the only "safety" on the washer that will shut the water off after reaching desired depth. To test it, run your machine on the various water levels. For example, start out on the low setting. If the water doesn't shut off after the tub is half full, then it's the fill switch inside the unit next to the tub.

Will not fill with water but works on spin cycle

If your washer won't fill with water, but works in the spin cycle then the washer is sensing that water is in the tub. If there isn't water in the tub, then it is probably a sensor. If there is water but the spin cycle doesn't get it out, then look at the pump or control board.

My Roper washer will only work on the spin cycle. It will not fill or work on any other setting. The fill hoses are clear of debris and there is no kink in the drain hose. What do I check next?

The indication you state is consistant with the washer sensing water in the tub. If there is no water in the tub, then it would be the tub sensor. If there is water in the tub, and the spin cycle doesn't get it out, then I would look at the pump or the control board.

My Kenmore C48072 washer is insufficient water supply. I checked the water inlet hoses and the faucet without any issue. Just supply a little then start running. :( Please advice. Thanks a lot

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. If water is not entering the tub normally, you need to check your water pump. It may be clogged. Your water level switch controls the amount of water going into the washer. If the water is just slower, check the pump. If it doesn't fill correctly, check the water level switch.

Very little hot water runs in tub

you either have a problem with the house water supply going to the washer and you can remove the hot water hose from the washer, first shut down the water, stick the end of the hose inside the washer and turn the water supply back on,if the water comes out normal then you have a bad water valve on the back of the washer.call your parts store and give them the full model number off of the washer, open the lid, follow it down to the bottom and right under the bottom of the lid you'll see the model number

Keeps filling up with water even on spin

Close the water supply valve and allow the machine to completely drain the water from the tub. Turn off the machine and disconnect it from the power outlet. Open the water supply valve. Replace the water inlet valve if water drips into the tub when the machine is off.

Start a new cycle if the machine stops filling when it is off. The control board or the water level switch is malfunctioning if it keeps filling even during the spin cycle. Indicate the model number for proper troubleshooting and repair assistance.
