The reason your character is moving by itself is your joystick malfunctioning. This is due to long playtime and hard pressing of joystick. It could also be that it has dust in it that's why it's malfunctioning. If it is still under warranty why don't you bring it to the nearest shop and let them fix it for you. You can also clean your joystick first from any dust and check if it solved your problem. Try watching this for your guide in cleaning the joystick of your psp. Be very careful in doing this or it might make your problem worse. If you want you can replace your joystick, I have checked it ebay and the price range from $2 - $3..
I hope this helps. Have a nice day!

I dropped my Psp 2000 three feet from the ground. It was turned off. When I turned it back on every character in a game that I play turn left. I have tried default settings and nothing has worked.

It sounds like the left button is jammed down, or the joystick is stuck to the left. The only way to fix this is to take the faceplate off and replacing the joystick module.

Super mario Galaxy Trying to start on the first level and mario just keeps running about at the circle. I dont have much control and cant get him to go up the hill. As soon as you get to the bottom of...

Normally the reason this happens is because while the game is loading, the joystick on the remote/nunchuck is not straight (someone is playing with it) causing it to run in circles when it's left in the open position. Simply reset your system and avoid holding the joystick in any direction while it's loading.

Good luck!

PS2 Controller Joystick Problem During Gameplay

If you've had the controller a long time weird things can start happenning. Usually the pads on the joysticks go first.
Try a different joystick(borrow a friends) and if it still happens you'll know its not the controller.Could be a glitch in the software of the game.
Eliminate each area. If a friend has the same game use their disc to try your controller with.
Take your controller to the video game store ask them to try it out on their game display models. If it's "busticated" you can buy a new one right away LOL.

The only way this can happen is if you have damaged the joystick function area. You have to change the joystick and put another one.

When I bank right or left with joystick the screen Freezes

To check the joystick isn't the problem, go into control panel game controls, then check that the joystick appears and you can move the cross-hair around on screen, most modern joysticks are
auto-calibrating, but you could try running the calibration.

To check the game isn't a problem, unplug the joystick, then use the arrow keys to fly the plane, if it doesn't crash when you bank then it isn't the game.

I assume the game is Combat Flight Simulator 3, as very old games that were written for Windows 95,98,ME series often won't run on Windows NT,2000,XP,Vista as they are completely different versions of Windows. If this is actually Flight Simulator 3, you may need to consider buying a later version of Flight Simulator (FSX is the latest version, but may not run on your laptop).

Other things to try are updating the graphics card driver.

Norton shouldn't need deactivating, although it could cause problems if you're playing online.

Also remember that laptop graphics cards are never as powerful as desktop graphics, and games very rarely specifically support laptop graphics.

Hope this helps.
