Hi i have a dell insperon 1501 and when i turn it on, it goes threw all the start up stuff. Then it gets to a screen that says configuring 3 of 3 updates and then it shuts off, restarts, and then does it again in a continuous loop. This has been going on since last week when i was looking for jobs my computer went wierd and shut off by itself. I started my computer back up and it said it had been shut off wrong, and started a self repair. I let it run but it ran constantly for 3 days strait without an end result. I just turned it off and i dont know what to do. There are some important documents on it, can you help me please?

Hi b_c_bach, this is a 'serious problem.'
The Computer is very eratic!
I know about "Looping", but this is 'something new!"
This is what you can 'try.'
"Reboot the Computer."
"Tap the [F8] Key, several times, until!"
The ["Recovery Environment"] 'window appear!"
Next, from the {List of Options}, choose the:
"Last Known 'Good' Configuration..."
If the 'program 'run'?
"Let it!"
If you cannot "Start the Program"
Try the [Safe Mode] option!
If you can: {Boot from "Safe Mode?"}.
See if you can 'retrieve' your "Data / Documents."
By copying it to another "Storage Device."
ie. External HDD, CDs or DVDs...!
If you can "Backup all your {Documents}?
"You feel that you 'would' like to make a [Clean Start]?
Meaning: Return the "Computer to a {State} as if you 'just' bought it!"
"I suggest you do a "Factory Restore!"
"This will {Restore the Computer to "Out of Box" state!"

Follow these instructions:

"Reboot the Computer;" quickly press, tap the [F8] key!"

  • The next window will be the "Recovery Environment."

  • "Options:" Select the option, "Repair your Computer."

  • In the next, [Systems Recovery] windows, you will have to "Enter" (Location, Password...)

  • Next, choose the box that best describes, the Recovery Wizard:

  • This will have a notice! Restores System back to Factory Settings, or Out of Box!

  • Note: "There will be all types of "Warnings!" Read carefully, before continuing!"

  • !Attention: "Once the Recovery begins, Do Not Touch the computer, for any reason at all!"

  • !Warning: The whole recovery can take up to (4 Hours), the computer will "Shutdown &

  • Restart several times; several! So until you see the LOGIN" screen, Do Not Touch the Computer.

"Please let me know if you 'need' further assistance; by posting a "Comment 'or' Rating the Solution." Thanks, your 'response' is important!" paul7of9

This 'comment' is for FixYa! So my understanding is; -10 is {subtracted} for "Not Helpful: Solutions!" But! When the "Solution is Very Helpful! = 5 or < LESS!" ? Is this "Correct"!? I have another ?Question? Do a number between a (100 to 1000) people respond quicker, and more to "Solution that do not help!" In comparison to the "Solutons that do?"

There is some kind of worm in your laptop. Start your laptop and start pressing F8 after the boot screen is shown, a menu will be shown choose Safe Mode. If it starts in safe mode then go to Run and type msconfig then go to Startup Tab and click on Disable All. Then reboot, let it start normally. If it starts then do a full system scan with updated Antivirus.

If the above not works then you will need a live CD of Linux and boot up. Backup your documents in a usb disk and then re-install Windows.

Insperon 1501 freezes

This can be caused by hardware or software. Eliminate the hardware by running a diagnostic check. To do this, hold down the <FN> key and push the power button. If hardware checks out, you probably have a software, virius or spyware issue.
