Dell 4100MP Multimedia Projector Logo
Posted on Mar 07, 2011

We use Power Point with our 4100 dell and many times when a new screen is selected the projected image shakes 2 or 3 times in less than a second. Then is fine untill a new selection is made. Almost looks like a mechanical shake, but couldn't be. Paul

The projection television, which magnifies images displayed on cathode ray tubes (CRTs) for the colors red, green, and blue using lenses and projects the magnified images onto a screen, includes a convergence control apparatus capable of adjusting the convergence while an input image signal is displayed, the convergence control apparatus including: an image signal decoder which processes the input image signal to generate a data signal, horizontal and vertical synchronous signals, and a start signal indicating the start of either the horizontal or vertical synchronous signal; a convergence control unit which normally projects an image signal output from the image signal decoder onto the screen and performs convergence control using a predetermined region of the screen displaced from a visible region of the screen according to a convergence control command; and a main microcomputer which inputs the convergence control command to the convergence control unit when the start signal is input from the image signal decoder, stops the convergence control when a completion signal is input from the convergence control unit, and performs a control operation to continuously display the image signal during the convergence control.

Need the printer driver that works on a iMac.

I use a Samsung SCX-4100 multifunction printer/scanner/copier with my Mac G4 running Tiger. Here is (hopefully) everything you need to get the printer functionality working in a similar way:
1:- Download the printer driver. Samsung does not oficially support Tiger SCX-4100 interoperability. They published a driver for a very short period of time and then withdrew it from their website for unknown reasons. However it is still available from a number of other websites, and this is one of them:
driver download
Click on the download to start the installation manager.
2:- Power up the printer and connect it to your mac using a USB cable.
3:- Open the printer centre. If it's already open CLOSE IT FIRST as otherwise it won't search for and find new printer drivers. To get to the print & fax centre click the apple on the top left of the screen, choose "System Settings" - well that's what it's called in translation anyway - and the window that appears has a link to the print centre. (Pictures: System Settings Empty Registered Printer List)
4:- Add a new printer by clicking the (+) sign. A window will pop up with candidate devices for you to select from. (picture)
5:- Select the Samsung printer from the list of devices. The fact that the printer is called SCX-4100 DOESN'T mean that it has been fully reecognised for what it is. There is more to do.
6:- From the drop-down menu at the bottom of the screen, select the printer make, Samsung, and when a list of Samsung drivers appears, choose the SCX-4100. (make and model) If it's not there, either the driver hasn't been found yet or, less probably, the driver hasn't been installed correctly. The best thing to do is to close the window, return to the printer centre, remove your attempt at registering the printer, then reboot the machine. I know it's clunky but that's sure to cause the driver to be found if it's there.
7:- Click the "add printer" button (that's what it is in translation anyway).
8:- Test the printer by printing off a document.
Thanks to the folks who made a copy of the printer driver available to me.
Scanner:
I've gotten scanning to work through Mac now, by a modded SCX-4500 driver. Works perfectly using Image Capture.

Here is the info: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=430721 "Steps: 1. Download the driver. I used 20071224134136734_SCX-4500_OS_X_Scan.zip 2. Unzip the package 3. Open up MAC_TWAIN/SamsungSCX-4500Series.ds/Contents/Info.plist in your favorite text editor 4. Find the product key in the IOUSBDevice section (line 43 5. Change the value from 0x3426 to 0x3413 6. Do the same for MAC_TWAIN/SamsungSCX-4500Series.ds/Contents/Resources/Info.plist 7. Open up MAC_TWAIN/SamsungSCX-4500Series.ds/Contents/Resources/Defaults.plist 8. Find the PID key (line 16) 9. Change the value from 0x3426 to 0x3413 10. Install the driver as normal
The scanner works in Image Capture. To use it, I have to go to Devices->Browse Devices and then click on Use TWAIN UI. (Note that the scanner does not say it is connected on that screen - do TWAIN scanners normally act like this?)"

Here is the modded package as well: - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DSX4PO7M - http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=ed469730f916532061d4646c62b381cbe04e75f6e8ebb871

Thought I'd just pass this on to you, hope it helps.

Convergence problem

This is out of the service manual

don't forget to write the setting to rom by hitting the pip button twice

Good luck and don't hesitate to ask questions

2.12.5 Convergence point adjustment
Adjustment preparation
(1) Select color to adjust.
“STATUS” - Green
“0” - Red
“ANT” - Blue
(2) Use 4, 6, 2, and 5 to move the cursor position
(dotted lines).
(3) Use thumb stick to move the convergence point.
(4) Three adjustment modes are available:
1. (3x3) Press “STATUS” 5 times (only works
when DCU is in uncorrected state)
2. (7x5) Press “0” 5 times
3. (13x9) Press “ANT” 5 times
For touch-up, only the (13x9) mode is necessary.
This will adjust every cross-hatch intersection point
on the screen.
For complete adjustment, start with (3x3) mode. This
will adjust center point and eight edge points only,
but will greatly reduce adjustment time. Then use
(7x5) mode, and finally (13x9) mode to finish
convergence.
If “S” distortion appears between cross-hatch lines
repeat (7x5) mode to change calculation process
while adjusting to remove distortion, then return to
(13x9) mode to finish touch-up convergence.
Adjustment procedure
(1) Receive any NTSC signal.
(2) Start adjustment at the center of the screen.
(3) Continue adjustment at next closest position.
(4) Adjust center area first, ending with edge sections.
(5) Press INFO button to perform calculation operation.
This process will take about 2 seconds and no
picture will be seen at this time.
(6) After interpolation, check convergence again and
repeat (1)-(5) if necessary.
(7) When convergence is acceptable, press PIP MODE
to write data to ROM memory. ROM WRITE? is
displayed to alarm system that ROM will be
overwritten with new data. Press the PIP MODE
button again to write displayed data to ROM.
(8) DATA WRITE TO ROM will take approximately 4
seconds and no picture will be displayed.
(9) Green dots will be displayed when operation is
completed.
(10) Press MUTE to return to convergence pattern, then
confirm again convergence is acceptable.
(11) Press PIP MODE (ROM WRITE) mode, then press
PIP CH to initialize sensor data positions.
Adjustment procedure
(12) Input any 1080I signal.
(13)Press EXIT key 5 times to exit video mode.
(14) Select an input with 1080i signal.
(15)Access menu and select ASPECT 5 mode.
(16)Press the SERVICE SW. ONLY button to enter to
DCU crosshatch signal.
(17)Repeat steps 2~11 above.
Notes: (1) Display only green for easier adjustment and
match to jig screen. Press “MENU”, THEN
PRESS “STATUS”.
(2) Perform interpolation and data write to ROM
after green adjustment. Once green has been
confirmed to match jig screen, the jig screen can
be removed. Do not readjust the green color
after jig screen has been removed. This is now
your reference color.
(3) Display green and red only and match red to
green.
(4) Display all colors and match blue to green and
red. Touch-up red color if necessary.
(5) Existing DATA in ROM can be read by pressing
the SWAP button 2 times. This data can be used
after replacing a component (CRT, DY, etc.)
Where complete convergence adjustment is not
necessary, be careful not to overwrite this data.
DO NOT write cleared RAM data into ROM or a
complete convergence adjustment will be
necessary. Remember to try MAGIC FOCUS
before starting convergence adjustment to
minimize adjustment time.
