Thanks, I will give that a go! We have a pc tune up program already (CA pc-tune up) which we use regularly with some moderate success. Darryl.

Hi, Thank you for your time and suggestions. I have run the scan/check as you suggested and I will see how we go for the blue screen in the future. How do I give the thumbs up? If I can find it, I will. Thank you once again, you have been very helpful and encouraging. Darryl

Hi again, I made some adjustments to the sleep side of things. As for whether it is a PATA or SATA or whatever, that is beyond me. Thank you for your help. What was said on the microsoft site sounded very feasable because it was happening around that time when it rested. We took some advice from another fixya guru about another problem we had with bonjour and he suggested we get all the available downloads for windows xp; since then our computer, instead of the screen sleeping (wiggle the mouse, and everything is stil there), it now goes back to a click on user name page when you wiggle the mouse button before clicking and letting you resume. Anyway , we will see how it goes this time. Thank you once again. It sounds like you have a grip on the situation, your answers are making sense.!

Thank you, I will! I should know in the next day or so, if we have been successful. Thanks again. Darryl.

Hi again, Sorry that I have returned but it (blue screen) has returned, that is if it ever was gone. What I was going to mention the other day was, one of the updates I downloaded (under advice- get all available downloads for windows xp) , this one changed the way the computer starts up. Instead of going to the open screen page with icons, this change now brings you to a user page where you click on user name, then it loads personal settings and finally it brings you to the open screen page. I don't know exactly what I have done but I have stopped it from going back to the use page every time the screen went into sleep mode, ( you would have to go and click on user name after wiggling the mouse to wake the screen) . It still goes to user page every time we start up and from what I read on the microsoft page you directed us to this feature may be the hibernating cause of our problem? Anyway, I am on another computer talking to you now because we have experienced the blue screen twice in the last two days and I can not currently get the computer to start even with last known good configuration. Here are the last 2 blue screen bits of info,(we took photos) 10/3/2011:- STOP 0x000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x8632F308, 0x8632F47C, 0x805FB1D6) 11/March/2011 :- STOP 0x000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x86319DAO, 0x86319F14, 0x805FB1D6) . I am not sure if this tells you any more than what we showed last time but I would still like to know what this particular feature is that won't let our computer go straight to the open page and how to disable or remove it. Thank you very much for your time and patience. If you would like me to post it as a new problem just let me know. Thanks, Darryl.

Hi, all I can find is "A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated." It also says to check that any new hardware or software is properly installed. Also, down the very bottom of the page it says "Beginning dump of physical memory" At the top of the page it says "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer" Also in the middle of the page it says "if this is a new installation ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need." Thanks for your help once again.

Hi, I have at least two problems. 1. even though I have a legitamate version of windows xp, because we purchased it second hand it didn't come with a program disk. 2. I can't get the computer to start up again. It gets to a screen that gives you the option to start in safe mode, safe mode with prompts, last known good configuration, and normally. In the past I have selected last known good configuration but this time it does not want to start same with normally and I have never used safe mode. Do you have any suggestions, Thanks.

Hi, If you would like, we can organize a time when we are both available and I can post this as another problem, which it is (system crash), so you can be involved again and get recognition. I am flexible, just let me know. If you don't wish to be involved, that is ok as well. I am sorry that I didn't get a disk with the computer, I did ask, I checked later to see if it was a legitamite copy, which it is. Thanks for all your time so far. Darryl

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. A blue screen error message that begins with STOP: 0x000000xxx is due to software, Hardware or driver related issues.

Hi, We sometimes get the - ezrahite_45.jpg
On the image above you need to obtain the 3 important information so that you will know what is the cause of the problem.

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
STOP: 0x00000050
SPCMDCON.SYS

Are example of the of the information that you need. You can run Scandisk to check ofr error on hardware.

How to run ScanDisk

- Double-click My Computer
- Highlight a local hard disk drive by clicking on it once
- Right-click the highlighted local drive
- Click Properties
- Click the Tools tab and click check now to check the drive for errors.
- The computer will need to restart in order to run scandisk without getting interrupted.
- Although not required we suggest having Scandisk automatically find and fix any errors found.

If you experience again the blue screen please let me know so that we can fix the issue. Get the 3 information mention above.

Thanks for using Fixya

Aside from the 0x000000F4. can you also indicate the file that is affected. It is next to the problem seems to be cause by the following: like this one SPCMDCON.SYS and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA so that we can specify the problem. Thanks

is it possible for you to reinstall the operating system to check if this is a hardware or software issue. Because if you format the computer and the problem disappear it means that its a software issue of not then it is a hardware. Make sure that before you format the computer back up the important files first. Thanks

PC keeps rebooting itself after G Data software installed

You should not use G-Data antivirus anymore, because the Blue Screen error you are experiencing right now is due to incompatibility of the antivirus with the OS. Moreover, you have told us that other G-Data antivirus users have the same issue. So, you must not use it.
According to users and webpage reviews, some of the best and user-friendly free antiviruses are MSE, Avast, AVG, etc. I've used all of them and they are more or less equally good.
If you are using genuine windows you can use Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE). This one is very light-weight.
Dowload MSE here: windows.microsoft.com/MSE
If you are not using genuine windows or if you are not a windows user, you can use Avast or AVG.
Download Avast here: www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download Download AVG here: free.avg.com/us-en/free-antivirus-download

NOTE: You can get automatic or scheduled virus scans and signature updates with these anti-viruses also. :)
Hope this helps, Mrityunjay.

My Envision Series AOC TV has blue lines across the screen when its on. Common problem?

This might be a screen driver problem that cannot be easily repaired without replacing the whole screen assembly. It may be cheaper to replace your TV. Ask a repair shop for a repair quote.

Remove the battery and battery cover and wait for sometime, say 5 minutes. Reinsert the battery and see if this works. If it doesnt, it could call for servicing.

Wireless Internet causes blue screen of death

-- "limited conn.."-- you should configure the internet connection in the router's software ie 192.168.2.1 or any other IP for the router, use ISP help desk for this (if it's free).

Blue screens have numbers and sometimes explanations, usually they pop up because of incompatible driver, chek router software(driver) compatibility.

explanation of blue screens are in the following link:
