Great instructions.
I left out the plastic latch and the razor works fine. OK with me.
On step "f" there was a little guide on one side...I had to push that in before sliding the switch upwards...it slid right out after doing that.
Thanks...it helped a lot.

To open model 8985 you will first need to gently pry off the 'cap' on the bottom that surrounds the hole where the cord plugs in. Once removed the side grips will pull off revealing 4 screws. Remove screws to take off back cover and access insides. Inner parts simply lift out.
If replacement parts are required, you will find all components for this model at shaveroutlet.com

8585 shaver gave higher tone and stopped cutting especially after a few days growth, even with new cutter and foil. Cutter wasn't pressing against the foil properly due to a bit of wear on the spring clip holding the cutter pin. Fixed with about 1cm of cigarette paper moistened and rolled into a 1-2mm ball. Stuffed that into cutter pin hole and rammed home with the cutter pin. Take the foil off and wiggle the cutter - if its feels loose, this might help, though the battery might just be getting old.

It's actually easier than it looks. On the bottom of the shaver is the charging port. That black plastic piece surrounding it can be pried off. Do it carefully, so you don't dent/scratch the casing. Once removed, the side pieces easily remove. You'll now see screws holding the body together. Have at it. :-)
