We have a panasonic vhs playpak that you insert the little tapes in from the old camcorders. We haven't used it for years and are trying to figure out how to keep the red arm from staying out when we insert it into the VCR to playback. It seems that the little motor in it isn't working even with battery replacement.

SOURCE: vhs tape gets chewed

Dear William,
the rubber belts and rubber capstan need cleaning/conditioning. you can attempt this with alcohol swabs and if you find rubber conditioner (in the past was easy to find in audio supply stores) apply some of this also. if this treatment does not solve, then may need new rubber belt kit. good luck.

This happens when he strings are worn out or broken. It will not hurt to replace the strings of the VCR after some while.

SOURCE: Panasonic VHS VCR Playback mode Tape Stuttering between LP and SP

This is most because the control head may be dirty, this haed picks up the pulses from the tape to regulate the speed & tracking if this is off it can produce both the faults you describe. Also it is possible the pinch roller (black roller on the right hand side of the deck mechanism, sits just in front of the control head), this may be worn especially as the machine is five years old, this will cause the tape to guided off alignment.

8mm JVC tapes put into a VHS tape that will play on a combined TV and VCR. Please, please, I need your help! Found tapes from 15 years ago.

You need an 8mm player or the camera that recorded the tapes. Connect the video and audio from the 8mm player/camera to a VHS recorder. Put the 8mm on play and the VHS on record.

Panasonic VHS PlayPak tape is stuck inside

I've only seen one of these, but I seem to remember there was a manual release that would let you unwind and open it. I cant find any documentation for this thing online or I might be of more help.

My family videos are stored on the mini VHS tapes. I recently bought a VCR to dvd recorder to transfer them into dvds but now I discover my VHS playpak (that you need to play the mini tapes) is broken....

Maplin Electronics have a motorised VHS-C Cassette adaptor that will enable you to view any camcorder tape on a standard VHS. If that is any help priced around £15.00.

How do you use the Panasonic PV-P1 Vhs C Adaptor?

I do not know if this is the permanent solution, but I just rewound the tape to the beginning and ejected it. The cassette came right out of the PlayPak. I will let you know if this always works or not.

Why does the VCR ejects my tape?

The VHS PlayPak adaptor uses 1 AA battery. When you place your VHS-C tape into the adaptor and close the cover, you will hear the motor running and the red piece on the adapter will move inside. Check the placement of the battery and make sure the clear shrink-wrap has been removed from the battery.
