Easy option first , clean laser with a laser cleaning disc ,if that doesn't work then (I assume you have tried more than 1 disc). a laser won't read a dirty disc, you may have a laser mechanism fault ie laser sticking in its tracks. you could try oiling the cradle that the laser sits on. other than that it is a costly repair.

Have an LG LHB306 blu-ray player. Worked fine until today. Put disc in , states

If it states no disc, cannot read, etc you have either a dirty or bad optical pickup in the unit.

Why does my toshiba portable dvd player say "no valid disc"?

It is likely either a dirty optical pickup in the unit or a bad one--they do sell cleaning kits--if a disc was used that had some dirt etc on it it may have caused this issue.

After inserting any disc, it will read a few seconds, then it says "no disc"

Either a dirty optical pickup or a bad one (it reads the disc).

ALBA SYS2046CD/A

The problem is in the laser pickup assembly, over time laser becomes weak until it can no longer read the disc. Buy a CD cleaning kit and follow the instructions, if no change! cheaper to replace the player.

The display says, "insert disc",

Thank you for posting to Fixya.com and it is my pleasure to guide you.

1. The disc may be turned over. Insert the disc with the playback side facing down.

2. The disc may be dirty. Wipe it with the correct type rag.

Since you stated the display is showing then I take it the player is on and the chord is plugged in.

3. Is the disc completely centered in the tray? I have done that before.

4. Have you run the self-diagnosis function? If the Error code 'AACS ERR' shows then it is an "AACS read failure". Remove the protected disc. Then turn the unit off and wait a minute or two and back on.

Good luck and please post back that you are successful and give thumbs up if my solution has worked for you. If I can be more helpful just reply.
