no PC told no OS told but it was for XP
biostar ended support. windows 7 is oct 2009 OS

2006 sound cards. it is PCI not PCI-express
so is useless on all modern PC>
but since you imply it fits to a PC the PC is a relic
and not told the chip sets on the card are not supported by them maker of the chips so is double dead.(product line not maker)

they ended all legacy then./ that means so did biostar. with no base drivers it ends.

ESS Maestro2E PCI AudioDrive (WDM)

You can download the audio drivers from the Compaq/HP WEBsupport/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP orVista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Click onthis link to download the drivers: -

Go to the website for your board and see if the drivers are available for download. I always save updated drivers in a seperate folder for each of my computers. Run the downloaded software from the location you save it to.

Ubuntu is based on linux, and as a result, not all audio chipsets are supported.  you will have to look into custom written drivers or try using ndiswrapper.
