My tool bar that normally appears on the bottom of my screen has relocated to the left hand side of my screen. I don't like there. I wish to move it back to it's original location at the bottom of my screen. How can I acomplish this. Please help.

Hello:
I assume you mean the "Start Bar" with the Windows logo button. You can move the location of the Start Bar by following these directions:

  1. Hover your mouse over an empty area of the Start Bar (Not over any buttons)
  2. Left-click and hold your mouse button.
  3. While still holding the left-click button, drag your cursor (arrow) to the bottom of the screen.
  4. Your Start Bar should now be in the correct area.
  5. To prevent this from happening again, Right-click on an empty area of the Start Bar and choose "Lock the taskbar"
  6. If you ever want to move it again, Right-click the Start Bar again and un-check "Lock the taskbar"

How to move icons from left side to bottom of screen

On all windows apart from Windows 8, you drag them from the desktop (left hand side) to the bottom (taskbar) with the mouse.

If the taskbar gets full up the icons might disappear.
The double bar at the end of the taskbar must be moved to the right for more of the taskbar to appear.

Office H&S 2013 purchased at Officeworks, installed on my desktop, but I need to put the icon on my screen. I find about 100 answers to Search on This PC -some updates others ? I had Excel on my

I assume you have Windows 8.1 as your OS. Unfortunately, the new OS doesn't add new programs to the Desktop, Task Bar or Start Screen. The best way to find the new programs is on the Start Screen. If you are in the Desktop, press the Windows key on the keyboard or the Start button in the lower left hand side of the screen. On the Start look between the Tiles and the Task Bar on the left side of the screen for an arrow that points downward. (You may need to move the mouse pointer.) This will bring up the All Programs list. Depending on your settings for the Start Screen, you may need to scroll past the Tiles for the non-desktop programs. Then you will see a list of Desktop programs organized by program manufacturer. All of the Microsoft Office software icons will be under the Microsoft Office header. If you right click on the Excel icon, you will be able to "pin" it to the Start menu or the Task bar. Repeat this for the other Office programs if you want them pinned. Another choice from the right click menu is to "Open File Location". This will open the File Explorer on the Desktop to the folder with the specific Office program. If you right click on the Application icon (the .exe file) and drag it to the Desktop, you will see an option to create a shortcut right there.

Once you have created the shortcuts on the Desktop or pinned them to the Start Screen, you may need to move them around. Just drag them to a more convenient location. On the Start Screen, all new Tiles are put to the very right hand side of the list. This may require scrolling several times to reach them. Holding the left mouse button will let you drag the icon.

I hope this helps.

(You can also find the Office Programs by just searching the folders - but that depends on which version of Office is installed. The default install has been the x32 version, start in the C:\Program Files (x86)\ folder. The 64-bit version will be in C:\Program Files\)

Sidebar has suddenly moved to side affecting size of screen. How do I return it to bottom???

You are probably talking about the windows Task bar that normally resides at the bottom of the screen:
.
Two ways of moving this task ba, to top/bottom/letft/right position of the display:
  1. Move the cursor on a blank/inactive area on the task bar, usually in the largest blank area towards the right, click and hold the right mouse button and drag the Task bar to the bottom of the screen.
  2. Go to the Task Bar 'Properties' (You can get this context menu by clicking the left mouse button after putting the cursor on a blank/inactive area on the task bar) and change the 'Task bar location on screen' option.
Hope it helps: let me know how you go.

The bar at the bottom of the computer is not there i have to press the flag on the key board to get the e mail or internet or turn off button

On most keyboards these days, there is a windows flag, in between the cntrl key, and the Alt key on the left hand side. If you press this key, your start bar will appear, from where ever it is. If it has been moved, from the bottom, to top, or one of the sides, then to bring it back to the bottom again, left click on your mouse, hold the click, and then drag it back to the bottom again.

Hope this helps

Startup fails to complete properly

When on the screen, and you have no icons hold control(ctrl) down and shift key and press escape(esc) your windows task manager should appear, goto the applications tab, at the bottom goto the tab New Task and left click, another window should appear with a text bar, type in the text bar explorer.exe and click ok, all the icons and your normal screen should reapear.

If your screen goes back to normal goto the start bar and goto run or search and type "regedit".
When the regedit window appears left click the " + " sign next to Hkey_local_mechine the the plus sign on software, scroll down to Microsoft folder and click the plus sign, scroll down to Windows nt folder and click the plus sign, the plus sign on Current version folder, then scroll down to winlogon folder and left click on the folder icon, on the right hand side of the screen look for "shell" double click on the icon and delete everything in the text bar and type explorer.exe and click ok and exit out of the window, restart the pc and everything should be back to normal.

pls post back and tell me what happens.cheers.

Picture slants right to left

Hope you have fixed this problem by now, if that tv is unserviced, I mean if nobody has ever opened it, it could be a problem with the positioning of your tv, just tilt the tv in different positions and find out the position in which it will show the right fit. If it is serviced, especially yoke is changed, this is rare, it could be because the position of yoke is not aligned properly.
