The fuel pump is damaged. When the filter is clogged and the fuel pump works on load for long time and you change the filter, the pump dies. I had the same issue (change the fuel pump).

Prime what?

Do you have fuel pressure at the fuel rail,
before and after the filter change?

Maybe the pump is worn out

How to change fuel filter on 2005 nissan armada

I would start by pulling the fuel pump fuse and starting the vehicle. This will get rid of the pressure on the fuel line. Once the vehicle will not start crank it over for about 10-15 seconds. Then the fuel filter is located under the brake booster on the drivers side. It has two hose clamps that hold it on. Remove the two hose clamps and replace the filter. Then install the fuel pump fuse. Turn the key to the on position and wait till you hear the fuel pump shut off. Turn the key off and repeat this step 3 times to build fuel pressure. Then you should be ready to go!

4. Drain oil into a drain pan.
5. Install drain plug with new washer. Tighten to 25 ft-lb.
6. Remove oil filter using a filter wrench.
