In panasonic modeltc-29sf3 pls give me the working voltage of zener diode with color code gray red red and red yellow in power supplyn section

just read the model and then google it, beside, if you short them, you need to replace them with same value, and this will be determined by the circuit, if you did not change the circuit - just buy two new diodes and install them, do not bother with voltages as they have some tolerance and type will determine it.

Shorted Rectifier Diode (fuse keeps blowing)

jdvillanueva_14.jpg
This CRT tv is dead set, no reaction when the power button is pressed(no standby led light). I've open the back panel and check the faulty parts.
jdvillanueva_15.jpg

As you can see the fuse was badly burnt-out indication of excessive current due to short circuit.
jdvillanueva_17.jpg

I've checked the parts feeding the AC line to the power supply board (Power cord, VDR, Ceramic capacitor, Coil, Posistor, Degaussing coil) one by one and I've found out that one of the four rectifier diode has a leak which caused the glass fuse burnt-out.
Here's how to test the rectifier diode.

Good Diode
Note : Forward and reverse bias depend on what type of ohmmeter are you using, here I'm using a Japan Standard(Sanwa Brand).
jdvillanueva_21.jpg

Using an ohmmeter set it to X10 to see much easier the leak from the diode in reverse bias.

Forward Bias : test the diode by connecting the red test prod of the tester to anode and then the black test prod to cathode of diode. You will see the pointer will reads a faily low resistance(above picture).
jdvillanueva_22.jpg

Reverse Bias : test the diode by connecting the red test prod of the tester to cathode and then the black test prod to anode of diode. You will see at the picture(above) that the pointer didn't react (remains in infinity). This is a good diode.

Bad(leaky) Diode
jdvillanueva_23.jpg

Forward Bias will reads fairly low resistance.
jdvillanueva_24.jpg

Reverse bias unlike the good diode the pointer will also reads a fairly low resistance.

After confirming that the diode caused the fuse from blowing I've decided to replaced all four diodes since I have a lots in my stocks.
jdvillanueva_25.jpg

Remember that when you installing the new diode on the board, make sure that you will make it in the right polarity.

jdvillanueva_26.jpg

This steps is also applicable in the DVD Player,Flat panel, Projection, LCD TV, you have to disregard only the posistor and degaussing coil.

Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

Parts led diode

Sure it's a diode; I think it would be a neon light. If you are able to take the neon light out, I think you will find a similar part in catalogues such as RS or Farnell (maybe Maplin).

I have a galaxy 88 cb radio that smoke came out from the back side, i dont know if the finals are burnt or bad? how do i find out?

Take the cover off,and look at the inside for any burnt parts. It has a protection diode, a lot of times this will burn protecting other parts from damage, look where the red (hot) wire goes in the radio, there is a diode coming off there, is it burnt, to check the finals you will need a ohm meter, check the circuit board for burnt trace,s....You will need a ohm meter to check the finals, they are mounted on the rail....hope this helps....

Bosch 18v driver/drill charger won't charge

THRE ARE MANY POSIBILITIES.HERE THEY ARE:
1. Check your charger's wire. Most of the wire s are always damage in the root of plug & to the opposite side.
2.Check the fuse.
3.Check the Rectifier Diodes. How many Diodes do your charger has?most of the chargers are only one, sometimes 4(a bridge type,& somtimes only one but 4 legs( it is also called a bridge type)
to test a 2 legs diode is just simply get a multi tester and adjust or set it in X1.,then look for the white band(mark) of diode,if you can see that mark, remember that it is the positive side.what will you do is put the red pin of the tester to the positve side of the diode,& the black pin of the tester to the negative side of the diode. If if the neddle of the diode will move, then you must reverse the pin of the tester, the red pin now will be put in the negative side of the diode and the black pin of the tester now will be put on the positive side( to the side with white mark or band).
now,if the neddle of the tester WILL MOVE after doing this reverse test: im sure that your diode is dead and needs to be replaced

Note:even most of the time you can do testing diodes attached on the board..,it is strongly recomended to detach one leg of the diode to the PCB or circuit befor doing the test.

UNKNOWN VALUE OF VOLTAGE ZENER DIODES

I was not able to find any service or schematic for this model. The colors means that the value is 22.6 volts zener diode with the other blue band indicating where the cathode is.
Could you tell me where or what other components this zener diode is connected to?

Vertical hold

You dont have enough vertical sweep!! Best thing to check is the vert output device and I think its an IC . BUT before that check the b+ going to that device and see if its low. I will run through a silicon diode right next to the ic. Measure both sides of the diode and if theres a big voltage drop then the diodes bad. Now also these sets are common for the b+ filter cap off thge flyback transformer. Its the voltage line that feeds that diode and the vert output section. Now measure all caps out of cucuit as most will measure good if you dont. Also just for giggles right nrxt to the big IC that has the vert ,horizontal video and sound drive there is if im not mistaking the vert parts start with c4-- or the ic will be ic4-- Its a small cap that will sayc4-- attached to nothing but the ground and one pin of the ic. I've seen this cap cause all sorts of vert problems in the past as its the vert waveshaper capacitor for the vert osc/drive. Good Luck
