Hi John, there may be the smallest piece right down in the throat area. Occasionall there can be some also completely rolled up in the paper shoot behind the rolls of film. I always remove the paper and turn it around prior to printing. At the end of each printing session, the next piece is drawn in and partially curled for 4cm. This will cause it to roll up inside at the next printing attempy- 9 times out of 10- Ross
Clear the error by turning off for 30 seconds.

I've been getting this J error too on my Panasonic Panaboard UB-5815 whiteboard and there is no paper jammed. I also didn't want to spend a couple hundred dollars on the replacement roller and separator pad. I found a fix that seems to be working so far!
Turn off the printer and unplug. Open the printer, remove the print ink film, remove the 4 screws and 2 more screws holding the parts all together. Clean the printer heads, rollers and everything with rubbing alcohol; wiping it all down gently with a cloth. Then use compressed air (air compressor) to clean all the dirt and dust out of places you can't see or reach. Put the screws back and print ink film ensuring it is pulled tight with no wrinkles. Insert paper. Close the cover, plug in and turn on. The "J" error should be gone and print.
If that doesn't work, then try replacing the print ink film with a new one.
This worked with us and have since printed off a dozen sheets no problem. Certainly a cheaper fix! Good luck! agoddess
