Here's where to get hold of solutions to this common problem.

it's most likely cos

1. you don't have drivers for the usb

2. You haven't enabled usb connectivity
Make sure USB Debugging is turned on. On the G1 click the Menu button and go to Settings > Applications > Development and check USB Debugging if it isn't already.

3. If everything fails, you may need to check your cable to see if it's still okay. borrow another one or buy cheaply from a reputable seller on ebay.

for more info.

There may be a physical issue with your usb port. You can get the part at HTC Repair and there is a guide that shows you how to put in the part at HTC Repair Guide.

First of all check your usb cable you should bye an original cable if you have a low quality cable. then check your phone in another PC.If it will work then re install your windows in your PC. if your cell dont work in another PC then you have to clean you phone's usb port. If still not work then go to Service Center because the main board is faulty.

I bout retractable travel mouse and doesn't seem to work on my labtop

It may have a manufacturing defect. Have you tried it on another computer? If it works on another computer, see whether it works when connected to a different USB port on the laptop. If it does, then you may have a bad or damaged USB port on the laptop. If it works on another computer but still does not work on the laptop when connected through an alternate port, then see whether some other device will work when attached to the laptop's USB port. If neither the mouse nor the other device work when connected to a USB port, then you have a problem with the USB controller. If an alternate device does work when connected to the USB ports of the laptop, and if the mouse works when connected to another computer but does not work when connected to the laptop, then you have a software problem, and probably need to change the mouse driver in a control panel or setting in the operating system of your laptop.

HI Sir, My Samsung Corby F339 Mobule is not connect in my pc showing error 692 there was a hardware failure in the modem(or other connecting device) plz help me.....

This error usually comes when you use usb cable to connect the phone to pc . Please try to unplug the cable and plugin the USB cable to another port and try via pc suite to connect to internet. If still it is not working try to connect on another pc via same USB cable to phone. If you are getting the same error still then this means the USB cable is damaged then change the USB cable and you can connect to PC. If USB cable works with other pc then reinstall pc suite or try connecting by creating dial up connection.

How do I set up a d-link dub-h4 to my laptop I have a power connection, a connection on the rear of the hub-4 going to an adapter connecting to the ps/2 connector on the laptop. Do I need one of the...

The connection on the rear of the hub should go to a USB connection on the laptop, not a PS/2 connection. A PS/2 to USB adapter is used to connect a PS/2 keyboard or mouse to a USB connection.

Window7 crache connecting usb fax modem

I expect it is a problem with your USB Driver, Get an updated driver for your USB slots. (either from motherboard manufacturer or USB manufacturer if it is a USB "card")
Even default or old drivers might work Try a few different USB drivers - a new one, the reccomended one, the original one...
(good idea is to use a ps/2 mouse and keyboard since your usb will be going on and off while you're working, it can be hard to click YES when you're keyboard AND mouse aren't working ;-)
if it still dont work...
Can you set any of your USB slots to work in USB 1.0 instead of 2.0, there could be an option in bios, maybe it will run the "OLD" modem in an OLD mode?

I have tried in vain to get the USB connection on my Westell 6100 to work. Are there some tricks to making this happen? The ethernet connection will work fine, but I cannot get the USB setup to work at...

I suggest that you use ethernet connection instead of the USB connection.

Ethernet is more stable that USB, you less likely to experience dropped connections.

Also take note that you can only use one connection at a time. You CANNOT use Ethernet on one computer, then USB on the other computer.

But if you insist to use the USB connection, you need to install the drivers. Once the usb cable is connected to the modem and computer, you will get a found new hardware wizard screen. Then you will need to insert the CD that came with the adapter to your computer.

If the found new hardware wizard did not appear, check your device manager and look if there is a USB adapter with a question mark or exclamation point. Right click on the USB adapter then click reinstall.

It should detect the drivers from the cd.

Good luck and have a great day!

Does not work when cpnnected to the external USB hub. Says "Camers Off". Works OK when connected directly to MacBook USB port? Why?

Make sure your USB hub is working. Confirm by using the with other applications such as connecting your thumb drive or other connections. If other connections will work, then your external hub is okay. Other thing, if your usb hub runs at lower speed than 2.0, new gadgets connection may fail.

Hp all in one

Try the follwoing steps, i m sure that it will start working bcoz i tried the same steps and my printer started working:

  1. Turn the power to the computer off.
  2. Press the power button to turn off the product.
  3. Wait 10 seconds.
  4. Restart the computer.
  5. Press the power button to turn the product back on.
  6. When the computer restarts, try the scan again.
  • If the issue is not resolved , try some other troubleshooting:
  • Connect USB cable directly to the computer and then restart the product and try to scan again
  • If the product still does not work , try some other steps:
  • Connect the USB cable to a USB hub or a docking station for a laptop. 1. Restart the computer and the product and try to scan again.
  • If the product doesnot works after connecting the USB cable directly to the computer , follow these steps:
      1. Reconnect the USB cable.
      2. Try the scan again.
        • If the product worked when the USB cable was connected directly to the computer, but does not work after reconnecting the USB cable in the original configuration, there might be a problem with the hub or docking station. Either leave the USB cable connected directly to the computer, or contact the manufacturer of the hub or docking station for troubleshooting.
If the product does not work after connecting the USB cable directly to the computer , follow these steps.
      1. Replace the USB cable.
      2. Try the scan again.
        • If the product does not work with the new cable, continue to the next solution.
Now, if this doesnot work, there is a conflicting USB device connected to the computer
    1. Disconnect all other USB devices from the computer except for the keyboard, the mouse, and the product.
    2. Try the scan again.
      • The issue would be resolved now and teh answer is that the computer might not have sufficient power supplied to the USB ports to detect multiple USB devices. HP recommends installing a USB powered hub to connect multiple USB devices.

Only works when connected to laptop, not when connected to a usb hub

This is a common problem with many USB devices. Most will work on hub but some are designed specifically not to. The biggest offenders in this category are Palm Pilots/Pocket PCs and wireless peripherals. They do this because they consume a great deal of the USB bandwidth and splitting it would make everything connected to the hub have connectivity problems. If you really need an extra USB port or two on a laptop, they do make a PCMCIA->USB card as shown here: http://www.buyextras.com/syusb202pcca.html?gclid=CN_JsfLGno4CFR3NgAodIRRvTg
