the problem can be a number of things including the mainboard. If you don't get any kind of beeping check that your display is properly connected and its working normally.

once you have checked that your screen works next. Now if you are within warranty You can stop here and contact emachines / acer for warranty service.

Now if you don't care about the warranty or if you are outside of it, unplug the pc, open the side panel, now inside you will see Memory modules on their slots, with white tabs on each end that releases them, these are typically next to the cpu and its fan. Remove all of them and plug the pc back into power and power on, you should hear beeping as long as your motherboard speaker is connected and working.

Let it complain - or just unplug power off after few seconds of listening to it. Now reinstall one of the ram modules back into the slot make sure it goes in the right way as it was. Then plug back in and power on.

Now if you don't get picture, do you get beeping? if so count how many and are they long or short or ??

Next I want you to take that ram and try it on the other slot, unplug the pc when you do that. Try the ram module on each of the slots and then take another ram module and repeat until you have tried all the ram modules in all the slots alone, this will rule out a memory issue, unless you are very unlucky and they are all fried - if you have another pc nearby test the ram modules on it.

Next if the ram was not the issue, reseat your video card and remove any extra hardware connections like dvd drive etc so you just have mainboard, cpu, ram, videocard, powersupply connected to each other.

Now at any point if you got beeping post me about it.

Now if you haven't gotten beeping we can continue, next we have ruled out most of the possibilities now, if possible if you have a spare video card you could try that, or if your computer has a build in video card -- its not in any of the expansion slots then just ignore the part about the video card, but still what you could try to do is to get a another video card and plug it in and see if you get picture from it.

What you can also do is reset the cmos, probably the simplest way for you to do that is to remove the 3 volt memory battery and hold down the power button for a moment while you have the pc unplugged. Now that is not a guarantee cmos reset, you ideally would need to find the small jumper near the battery and switch it to the other position and then back and that should do it.

Remaining faulty parts can be the cpu or the mainboard.

Note that the mainboard and fans will spin up even if you don't have a cpu connected so it is very difficult at this point to tell which one of them is faulty, a sure way to test that is to take the cpu to another motherboard. And the final part would be the issue.

Let me know how you get along with it. that might be alot of text to take in one read.
Thanks and good luck -- we can fix it.

I have this computer. It happens to me sometimes too. Unplug the power when its not starting correctly and then plug it back in and it should boot back up.

It might be a video card, or maybe a lose connection, or even a bad monitor.

I need the wiring diagram that shows where on the motherboard to plug the power switch ,power LED, and HDD Led on a T6520 emachine desktop

Most Motherboards are made to only accept certain plugs in that specific spot! If you are trying to add something new like a new Fan or LED, or HHD and you need power you would have to use a 4 prong plug off the power supply, If your power supply does not have any more available plugs, or sells splitters!

Good Luck and Best Wishes!

I am trying to find the power switch diagram for an emachine t6520 thanks

On a Asus motherboard its not designed for eMachines systems because they come with a proprietary setting on the case. So what you need to is take the emachines motherboard that you took out and take the new motherboard that you bought and match the two. If there is a difference then you need to return it or buy a new case and you shift all the hardware from the emachines to the new case. If not buy a similar replacement board from emachines or ebay and you can find one and buy it. The Power setting is on all motherboards but some are different then others.

I unplugged my power sw wire, hdd led, and power led of my emachines t6520 ive tried everything but the computer will not turn on the motherboard does not have any symbols to indicate pos or neg . . . . |...

open up you pc case...mind out for static! dont touch what you dont have to and look for a printed ( normaly white ) motherboard model id..this might be the name of a manufacurer or just a few letters and numbers plus a revision number at the end. armed with these, trot of to google and stab them in. you should see a host of sites, but look for one that is the support site for your board...track down you board on the support/download site and there should be a manual & drivers ect to help you :)

Emachine T6520 Wont Start Up

Check your num lock key status press it on and off if hum lock led is on and off when u pressing then your cpu working fine. so check connectiopn of vga cable cpu to monitor.
Also some times display screeen resolution issue so when u power up press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode then you can chang escreen resolution to 1024*768.
but if num lock key is not on and offf then open the cabinet of cpu then find cmos cell on mother bord and pull it for 14 minutes then check .
