The solenoid resets timer, and ends defrost cycle when pressure or temperature switch calls for termination.

1976 hd fxe shovel... Does the positive cable from the solenoid go directly to the battery or the relay first and then the battery?

There are usually at least three connections to the starter solenoid - two are generally physically larger and designed to carry starter current. One of them will be connected to the starter motor and the other connected to the battery.

Depending on the circuit, if the relay is a starter relay its purpose is to provided the current to energise the solenoid and will be connected to the smaller terminal.

What makes myCub Cadet LTX 1040 not get gas?

It is a fuel shut-off solenoid. Its purpose is an anti backfire device. Its likely the carb is just dirty as opposed to the solenoid failing. But if it has failed it is about $70-$100 to replace. Test the solenoid by removing it from the float bowl and plugging the wire back into it and holding/ grounding it against the crankcase, lock the brake, and turn the ignition key on. You should see the plunger of the solenoid suck in with key on and release with key off. If the solenoid works properly clean/ rebuild the carb. If not working properly clean/ rebuild the carb ( the same stuff that caused the solenoid to fail is still in the carb) and replace the solenoid.

What is the purpose of the circuit board onside the starter?

The circuit purpose is to control the operation of the internal solenoid. The circuit board senses the aircraft system voltage during the starting cycle and engages or dis-engages the starter accordingly.

The cold water will not work. All hoses are hooked up correctly, and the cold water is turned on.

2 screws on timer console . may be on back side. flip console back and remove two clips. body will set off. on your valve to check try( for test purpose only)switching hoses and wires on solenoid ( if cold comes in now, you know you have a bad solenoid)or check solenoid with an ohm meter.

No hot water whirpool awm 321/3

A faulty inlet valve solenoid on the hot water side could be the cause. The solenoids can be tested for continuity using a multimeter or ohm meter. A lack of continuity indicates a faulty solenoid. I am attaching a photo for reference purposes. Hope this helps and best wishes.

Fan fixed but evaporator solenoid keeps activating at times

the purpose of the valve is to de-ice the evaporator and the valve is turned on by a timer usually. in normal operation, the evaporator builds up with ice (that is how water is extracted). when the valve operates, to put it simply, the hot gas is routed to the evaporator and hence melts the ice off
