SOURCE: Converting MPEG-4 files into svi
Hmph. You got me thinking. Well, here are some suggestions: 1)try to re-install samsung multimedia studio. 2)try a different mpeg4 file to convert. If that doesn't work, something is terribly wrong. 3)go to this site: http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=3046&s=95 A download for k-lite codec pack should instantly start. Hope this works! If none of these work, then you may just have a virus somewhere.

Ok you need to know exactly what model number player you are using as there are three versions of the YP-T8. * YP-T8A * YP-T8X * YP-T8Z Once you know that then you go to the samsung site and download the appropriate driver. Looks something like this: FM/200611/20061107201844343_YP_T8_ROM_20060609_138US.zip Once you do that you have to unzip or extract the file. Windows should do this automatically. According to the directions you then take the files that it unzips and put them on your mp3 player. So connect your mp3 player to the computer via that usb cable. It should show up as a Removable Device under My Computer. Find the files you just extracted. Should be YP_T8.fnt, YP-T8.rom and YP-T8.img You then simply copy those files into the mp3 player which is that new removable device drive. The root folder is the first area you see when you first explore the drive. i.e. any folder you see on that mp3 player when you double click on it is actually a sub-folder and not the root folder. So open it up and copy those files right there. After which you then do as the directions say. Unplug the mp3 player, power it off and then connect your charger. It says it will automatically upgrade the firmware and then automatically turn on so it should just be a waiting game at that point. Good luck!

I bought a cable which fit and even caused the player to turn on but nonetheless didn't work. So be careful!
