I have a new pc and my monitor doesnt show pictures or anything there are vertical stripes on it. please help

Have you tried running through the setup menu on the monitor itself? If so and it didn't help, your computer probably doesn't have the driver for that particular monitor and you should get it for "that" monitor for "that" computer and "that" exact version of Windows (I'm assuming that's what your using). You should be able to open the "Set Up" before Windows opens and load the driver from a CD onto your computer. Reboot and "Plug & Play" should take over. Otherwise, the monitor may be bad, or incompatible with your system, it still happens.

I turned on my labtop after repalcing the power inverter and the screen is still dark

Hi brylindo.
Try hooking your laptop to an external monitor...if the picture comes on then it is an lcd screen problem...if it doesn't come on then re-down load your drivers and see if that solves the problem...if it still doesn't work then you may have a problem with the laptop electronics.

I am trying to set up my HP S2031 monitor to use with my laptop. I loaded the driver and have the setup "apparently correct". I set the graphics as high as my laptop allows (13666 x 768) and...

S2031 non A version 9 years old today (carbon14 tested )
1600 x 900 @ 60 Hz
that is all it does, if any monitor shows error
"out of range" it will never LIE to you,
the range btw, is 3 way matrix, H , V and HZ.
if not in the matrix, bingo out of range fast.
this prevents burning the LCD up. (ghosting damage LCD google it if curious)
The unstated PC is goes high but not your old monitor
buy a new one

My 243T seems to only be offering 640x480 all of a sudden. Is there a hard reset I can try? Powering off doesn't fix it

The resolution adjustment is not done at the monitor, the adjustment is done at the PC display setup properties, The Video card driver could have been corrupted. Did you install any new software or any new drivers lately?

When i turn my computer on my momitor wont come on without my help i have to push the button on side of monitor6 time then it comes on

Are you giving the computer time to begin sending a signal to the monitor. Some computers send a brief low resolution signal during BIOS load, then put the video back into sleep mode while loading the operating system. The video drivers are usually loaded fairly late in the boot/OS load cycle. You may just not be waiting long enough.

My monitor screen is black and the yellow standby light is blinking. I can not get the light to stop blinking or get the monitor to show anything, but a black screen. What can I do to coerrect the problem?

mcdevito75 here, Press the SHIFT key, a screen should come up telling you too click on your user name, left lower side of screen. If this doesn"t work, press the yellow blinking light on the monitor see if picture comes back, then follow the directions. If this doesn"t work, shut computer down with switch on the computer itself. Hope this helps.

Screen cuts off image

To see the button on the right hand side of this monitor you will need to shine a really bright light on it, but the buttons from top to bottom are: 1, up-arrrow, down-arrow, and 2.

  1. On the side of the monitor press the 1 button to activate the menu.
  2. A configuration menu for the monitor will appear; from that menu highlight the "Input Select" menu item using the up and down buttons on the monitor; when you have the item high-lighted, press the 2 key.
  3. A new menu will appear, and then you can select the menu item called HDMI on the left and PC waaay over on the right. Select this menu item with the up and down arrows and when it is selected,
  4. And press 2 like you did in the previous step.
Apparently there's some sort of a strange difference between using this monitor as a "video monitor" and using it with a computer.

No driver appearing in Vista

Sorry this is late but:

Unplug the monitor from the PC and then boot.
after you hear the windows starting sound wait for it to load everything up (say 1 min) and plug in the monitor

Windows then plays the "i have found an unknown device" sound and begins to search for drivers

Wait 5 min for it to do this and then shut down the computer with the power button.
Re boot

Monitor should work.

Note: you must be connected to the net for this to work.
