The display in these radios is powered separately from the radio
electronics.Turn it off and back on with the manual button on the radio the
display comes back on. It seems to be a function of the switching logic from
the power circuits. So, try this and see if it brings back the display
with a couple of trials with the power button. Turn the car ignition off, then disconnect the negative terminal of battery wait for 10 minutes then reconnect and check. But if still the display is not there but radio works then,in that case the radio display connections are got loose. It can be loose from display board to control board of radio or loose from control board to display panel of radio. Both are possible. The radio needs to be removed out of dash and its connections are to be checked. If all checked ok then continue further with disassembling the radio itself. In the radio you will see a main circuit board of the radio. On that board there will be many tiny electronic components.Just look at the components. The one which gets faulty or short will be burned or got leaked or got bulged from its top.It can be easily see,as it will look different from other good components. Also check for any loose soldering. Many a times its case of loose soldering. The soldering points gets loose and the grip of components to the board gets loose and re-soldering the board makes it proper. This re-soldering of whole board procedure is called dry soldering.--- But if every thing looks proper on control circuit board, then the other side of the radio has to be checked. That is the display panel. On the inner side of the radio the wires and connection of display panel will be easily seen.So inspect that parts and check.Any of the one is causing the fault. If any wire is checked loose or you notice cut in between the wires then you can connect external wires to complete the wiring.----------- This whole procedure can also be done at local car radio servicing and repair centers. They will test everything from wires to circuit board to front display panel. And replace the faulty part,if any located. As you mentioned the radio works but there is no display,so as per this it does not looks major problem. Some times just a loose wire or loose soldering causes this issue.------------ This troubleshooting will help to resolve the issue. This should help.Keep updated.,Thanks.Helpmech.
