Dell Inspiron 1150 Notebook Logo

Not a typical backlight issue

My Dell Inspiron 1150 had a problem with the display. I could barely see the screen, after initially seeing the Dell logo clearly with a new reddish pink hue to it when the computer first booted. The pinkish hue went away quickly though and I was left with a darkened display. I rebooted several times, but still the same result. Long story short, the problem was solved by replacing the LCD screen.

The new LCD screen had been working fine for a couple of weeks. However, recently when I unplug the AC adapter the screen once again fades to a faint black screen. It is only a problem after the AC adapter is unplugged. I can run off the battery and never have a problem.

Thanks!

Hi!

You can check the brightness with AC in the BIOS and match it with running in battery or else, when you plug the ac adapter, the lcd goes dim, press and hold the FN buttong and tap the up arrow then reboot and try to see if it will still do it. But still the best way to do it is going to the BIOS by pressing F2 at the Dell logo startup.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Inspiron 6400 powers up but screen basically dark and barely able to see the desktop. using the FN key and the up arrow does not change the contrast. any thoughts?

Your backlight bulb went out, it's a long tube on the bottom typically, It's most likely taped to the LCD frame and encassed in a metal shield. Not for the faint of heart taking on the repair. Light fixtures are found on eBay however, or new LCDs of course

A line ppears on my dell inspiron 1420

A thin line across teh screen is an indicator that the LCD is bad. There's not anything short of replacing the screen that will resolve this issue.

Dell Inspiron laptop monitor is gone very faint

Connect an external monitor to the laptop and power it up, if you see a clear image on an external monitor, this means your video card is OK.

If you see a dim image or flicking image on the LCD screen it means you have a backlight problem.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
Check out www.lcdparts.net for parts, repair service and DIY info.

Loss of light on screen Dell Inspiron E1705

Looks like the backlighting on the display has failed, sometimes it is just a lose cable, buy most often the LCD needs to be replaced.

to check the cable see the manual at http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins9400/ for how to get to the LCD cables (usually just under the cover that the power button is on)

Lcd inverter--need to replace

They aren't hard to replace. If you can find one on eBay, get it and use the on-line manuals from Dell's web site. They are very clear and easy to follow.

Inspiron 1150 lines on screeN problem.

Connect an external monitor to the laptop and see if it also has the vertical lines. If the external monitor looks fine, then your laptop’s LCD display panel is bad. If the monitor has the vertical lines displayed on it, then your graphics card or motherboard is bad.

Dell D600 LCD screen turns on but no LCD picture anymore

hook up a CRT to the vga connection on the back of the laptop. Reboot, and press the Fn+F8 key and see if you can view your desktop on the crt. I am dealing with the same issue, but i noticed that i can make out just barely on the LCD my image of the desktop. In researching, it appears that either the inverter is bad or the backlight. Both appear to be very inexpensive to replace but requires some soldering experience. If you wish to give it a try, just look up www.lcdparts.net.

Also goto www.discountparts.com and see if they have a replacement/used LCD screen. That SHOULD be easier to replace.
