I set up wireless network for my boss, using Belkin wireless n router, so the 3 computers can connect to the same wireless printer, and she can access this network with her home laptop. All is well except that she can't access any secure web sites through the network, although she can when she works from home. I've searched through so many tech advice pages, my head hurts, and have done everything suggested, but still am unable to access secure sites from any computer in this network. It has to be something in the router, correct? Since her laptop can reach secure sites at home but not at work. Please help, as I'm feeling I made some stupid mistake that is causing my boss to have to take work home to process client billing instead of being able to do her billing at work. The website that she needs to access is https://terminal.securenet.com/

If possible, to rule out the modem as the cause, connect a computer directly to the internet(bypassing the router entirely). If it is the router, you could try flashing it back to factory defaults and reconfigure. Log into the router's firewall feature and see if port 443 is blocked to the outside--this could cause https connections to fail.

I am using a Belkin router and I cannot connect to Internet

If you connect the computer directly to the modem, does it work?
If that works then the modem is working.
Now connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
You will need to open the set up page of the router to check the settings of the router.
You can set up the router without the CD also.
It is very easy.

What is the Operating system on the laptop ?
If it is XP then in the bottom right hand corner you will find Wireless network connection ( looks like 1 computer monitor). Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is windows Vista, then in the bottom right hand corner you will find 2 computer monitor icon. Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is Windows 98/ME/2000 then use the adapter utility to connect to the wireless network.
For MAC you will see the AIRPORT icon at the top.

Check the wireless settings of the router first . Make sure that yopu have all the wireless settings of the router. If you are not sure about the settings, then open the router set up and check the settings.

Networking

You actually have a couple of issues here. Fix these in this order. 1.) Login to router and turn off wireless (if you're not wanting to use wireless) 2.) Connect the ADSL modem CAT5 port to the WAN port of the Belkin router. 3.) Login to router and turn on NAT and make sure DHCP is enabled. 4.) On your Windows machine turn on DHCP under the network settings. This should allow your connection to be setup automatically and stop wireless access on the Belkin router. Let me know if you need more help. JC
