Installed new floppy. Set bios. Shows in explorer. After clicking on A drive, get mesage, "Please insert a disk into drive A:" Yes, there is good floppy in drive.

Step 1:
Update ASUS BIOS b> Insert bootable floppy disk or USB drive. Copy the updated BIOS file to floppy disk or USB drive.
(Note: BIOS file and boot files should fit on a floppy disk. If the BIOS file is too large to fit with boot files, consider using the EZ Flash method described below.) Insert the motherboard support CD into optical drive. Copy AFUDOS.EXE from CD to a floppy disk or USB drive. Reboot. When the DOS prompt appears, type the following: afudos /i[name of BIOS file]For example, "p4c800b.rom" might be the name of the new BIOS file. "afudos
/ip4c800b.rom" is the command that will install it. Wait. Your monitor will display the update's progress with a series of messages: "Reading file," then "Erasing flash," then "Writing flash." The "writing flash" message will be followed with a percentage counter that tells you how far the write has proceeded. The final message will be
"Verifying flash." DO NOT switch off or reboot at any point in this process or you will ruin your motherboard. After the update is complete, the utility will return to the DOS prompt. Remove your floppy disk and reboot. Enter the BIOS Menu and load "Setup Default." Save and reboot. You're finished. b> Update Using EZ Flash Copy your new BIOS files to a floppy disk or USB drive. Reboot. When the system is at POST, press "Alt" + "F2" to enter EZ-Flash. Alternatively, on late model motherboards you may press "Delete" to enter BIOS setup, then access EZ-Flash from the "Tools" option on the navigation bar. (Select Tools > ASUS EZ Flash 2 > YES) Wait for your system to check current BIOS information. Insert your floppy or USB with the new BIOS file. Select the drive letter with the BIOS update file, then select the file. Wait for your system to check the update file. After the file check is finished, click "Yes" to update your BIOS. Wait. Let the update procedure run until it finishes. Do not switch off or reboot or you will ruin your motherboard. When the update is finished, remove the floppy or USB drive and reboot. Enter the BIOS Menu and load "Setup Default." Reboot. You're finished. b> Update Through the Internet If it isn't installed already, install the ASUS Update utility. You can either download it or use the copy on your motherboard's support CD. Close all Windows applications if any are running. Launch the ASUS Update utility from the Windows desktop by clicking "Start>Programs>ASUS>ASUSUpdate>ASUSUpdate." The "ASUS Update" main window will then appear. Select "Update BIOS" from the "Internet option" drop-down menu. Click "Next." Select the ASUS FTP site nearest you, or choose "Auto Select." Click "Next." From the FTP site, select the BIOS version that you wish to download. Click "Next." Start the update. Wait for it to complete.

You may have to enable 'A' drive through the bios. Depending on the bios, you need to hit F1 or F2 or F10 at initial start up. You can hit all three at once and get into the bios. Then navigate your way through the bios to find where to enable and disable drives.

1-Does your computer show any sign of response after power button press?
2-Is your power cable properly connected and have main power switched on both your power supply unit and the wall plug?
3-Is the 20/24-pin ATX power connector has been connected between your motherboard and power supply?
4-Can The standby power LED (Green blue) light up continuously after the mains power is connected? (Note: Both flashing and off are no good here)

Fix 1

(1) Isolate The power going into your system ( i.e. connect your system to the wall plug directly, without sharing the power with any other devices via power extension cable.)
(2) Check if the power supply and power cable functions correctly, and have the input of your power supply set to the correct position (either 100/110V or 220/240V, depending on your country)
(3) Please try replacing your power supply.

Fix 2

1. No POST

1.1 Please clear CMOS to have a try (refer to motherboard manual for details)

1.2 If the problem still persists, please contact your retailer for a check

2. There is error message during POST: BIOS ROM checksum error. Detecting floppy drive A media... Insert system disk and press enter

2.1 If the support CD supplied with motherboard is available

2.1.1 Please restart system and put support CD into optical drive, then the system will recover BIOS automatically using CrashFree utility

2.2 If the support CD supplied with motherboard is not available

2.2.1 Prepare a formated floppy disk, then unzip the BIOS file downloaded from ASUS website into the floppy disk.

2.2.2 Please restart system and insert the floppy disk into floppy drive, then the system will recover BIOS automatically using CrashFree utility
2.3 If it is not helpful after the troubleshooting as the steps 2.1 or 2.2, please clear CMOS( referring to the manual introduction)

Fix 3

Please try the latest BIOS. I recommend you to use AFUDOS to update BIOS. You need to unzip it to get the ROM file.

You should use the command as follows:

AFUDOS /i[biosname]

or, afudos /i A:\BIOSNAME.rom(if the BIOS file is in the floppy disk)

You can store your BIOS into a floppy disk or a hard disk with FAT format. Then, you will be able to use AFUDOS to access the BIOS ROM file.

If it is not convenient for you to use DOS and AFUDOS, you can try to use EZ Flash. You can save the BIOS file into a flash disk then boot the system and enter BIOS, then you can update your BIOS by EZ Flash which is in the BIOS Tools page. Please load the default settings in BIOS after you have succeeded updating BIOS.

Reverse the data ribbon direction in floppy side (data cables pink color side should be plugged opposite to power cables color side)

Kindly check again in BIOS under device configurations SATA mode is disabled if not than disable it.

it means your boot sequence is first booting your floppy drive or your hard disk is not detected.i think you should check the cmos set-up.you can set it by pressing delete while the pc is booting.disable floppy drive seek.also the boot sequence.the os installed is maybe corrupted, is also one of the problem. refer to the manual if you have.

.Yes you should update the bios. The asus support website has everything you need to do this also they will have step by step instructions to do so.

Hi Elia, Could be a couple of things: -Your drive may only be a 720K drive. They will format 1.44 MB disks but only with a 720K format. The test is inserting a HD disk and try formatting it as HD. -The disk could be mislabeled, HD disks have two holes on end opposite the slide, one to write protect the disk and the other to signal to 720/1.44 capable drives this is a HD disk. -The HD disk could be formatted as a 720K disk even though it is an HD disk, reformat as HD. -The new, used drive could be damaged. -The drive could be configured as a 720K by the computers BIOS. You?ll have to enter the BIOS setup find the config for the A drive and set to 1.44MB. Let us know what happens and please don?t forget to rate the posting.
