Nozzle cleaning uses a lot of ink, that's probably why the other ink cartridges are registering low on ink. Are you using refilled cartridges or brand new? Also, have you had the cartridges for awhile? I've found that the nozzles can become clogged either from not using the printer for awhile or because it's a recycled cartridge that didn't have the nozzles cleaned before it was refilled. When that happens, unfortunately, sometimes it takes a lot of cleaning cycles before the printing comes back. Let me know more about the cartridges you have.

I have an epson NX400 inkjet printer, all ink cartridges are full and are installed correctly. When trying to print, the black ink is not being printed. I have tried doing several head cleanings,...

hey friend,

This should be the problem of print head ink nozzle block. The nozzle for the black ink cartridge got dry.So the ink getsdried state. It won't allow any inks passing through the micro nozzles.Head cleaning won't help with the heavy nozzle block. So try replacing a new black cartridge or else bring the printer to the nearest service center. It'll help so.

There is nothing wrong with the black ink. Just run the head cleaning for better printing.

1. Go to printer and faxes
2. Right click your printer ( Epson Stylus Multifunction Printer/ Copier/ Scanner InkJet)
3. Click printing preferences
4. Click Maintenance Tab
5. Click Head Cleaning
6. Run head cleaning for 5 times then try printing.

Checking the Print Head Nozzles
If your printouts are faint or have gaps in them, some of the nozzles in the print
head may be clogged or ink may be running low in one or more of the ink
cartridges. Follow the steps below to check the print head nozzles.
1. Load letter-size paper in the sheet feeder.
2. Turn off the NX100 Series.
3. Hold down the y Stop button as you press the P On button to turn the
NX100 Series back on. Hold down both buttons until the P On light begins
to flash, then release the buttons.
Cleaning the Print Head 21
4. Check the nozzle check pattern that prints to see if there are gaps in the lines.
5. If there are no gaps, the print head is clean. If there are gaps or the pattern is
faint, clean the print head as described in the next section.
Cleaning the Print Head
If print quality has declined and the nozzle check pattern indicates clogged
nozzles, you can clean the print head. Print head cleaning uses ink, so clean it only
if necessary.
Note:
You cannot clean the print head if an ink cartridge is expended, and you may not be able
to clean it when a cartridge is low. You must replace the cartridge first (see page 23).
1. Make sure the NX100 Series is on and the B ink light is off.
2. Hold down the y Stop button for three seconds to start the cleaning cycle,
which lasts around one minute.
Caution:
Never turn off the NX100 Series during head cleaning or you may damage it.
3. When the P On light stops flashing, run a nozzle check (as described on
page 20) to verify that the print head is clean.
4. If there are still gaps or lines, or the test patterns are faint, run another
cleaning cycle and check the nozzles again.
Note:
If you don’t see any improvement after cleaning the print head two times, turn off your
NX100 Series and wait at least six hours to let any dried ink soften. Then try cleaning
the print head again. If quality does not improve, one of the ink cartridges may need to
be replaced. If that doesn’t help, contact Epson as described on page 31.
If you do not use your NX100 Series often, it is a good idea to print a few pages at least
once a month to maintain good print quality.
Good Luck and Please rate me.

Mostly yellow print out

i think your color cartridge are not jetting fully..other nozzles are not jetting ..the main reason for this is low ink level and clog nozzles..

you need to replace your cartridge if you satisfies with your ink ...try to wipe the cartridge in a wet cloth ...

Epson sx200 One of the colour inks is empty and no print in black

Hi, this is not a solution because I don't think there is one apart from buying new inks. Epson and all other inkjet printers do this to prevent the coloured print head nozzles from getting blocked. If they are not used for a long time the ink dries up and blocks the nozzles. Epson recommends printing at least once a month with all colours to prevent this. Printing in black only option will only work if the colored inks are OK. Whenever the printer is turned on it performs a head clean, this is why the coloured inks get used over time even though they are not used for printing.

Printer not printing

You need to carry out a couple of print head cleans and nozzle checks. To do a print head clean you can either use the driver software (Go to printers & faxes, right click on printer and select printing preferences then the maintenance tab) or hold down the maintenance button for 3 seconds. to carry out the nozzle checks either use the software as above or turn off the printer and press & hold both buttons for about 3-4seconds when turning back on. The nozzle checks should show unbroken lines, if there are any gaps then the print head is starting to get clogged. Note head cleans use about 5 - 10 percent of an ink cartridge, if any cartridges are low they will need replacing after cleaning. Cannot get yellow to print

I had the same problem with the yellow cartridge. Yellow quit printing, put in a new yellow and still would not print yellow. I had a help file, don't know where I got it, but it suggested replacing the black ink cartridge also, even though the black wasn't low yet. Replaced the black, ran a few nozzle cleans and everything worked fine. Don't know why. Try it
