My kids have a 13 inch symphonic tv vcr combo not sure what model but it has white lines all across the screen when they try to use this is there anything i can do to fix this problem myself thanks Joe

The only thing you can try is take the back off the set, you should see a device called a flyback transformer to your right, " usually black in color with two control knobs, one is marked focus and second one is marked screen " the screen control should be turned anti-clockwise just a touch until the white lines just disappear. Be aware that the red lead from the flyback to the picture tube carries high voltage in the order of 20 thousand volts " please do not touch it " for safety keep one hand in your pocket and have second person close by so they can pull the plug at a moments notice.

Not really. This is an internal CRT problem, essentially part of the rods are not firing.it would be more expensive to get a replacement piece because you are essentially buying the main component of the Television to reinsert. Sorry.
