When I turn on my Logitech Z4 Speaker system, all I get is a buzz/hum. It comes though the sub woofer, then when I plug in the two speakers, it comes through them. Has this happened to anyone else?

It's a problem of grounding means your speaker input is not getting proper grounding through cable. when i was setting up my sound system in my room i got same problem i tried so many ways to remove humming of speaker and sub, i also bought a cable extender for this issue but problem was not solved. so i bought a good AUX cable and connected with my workstation and Humming of sound system gone. another solution is try to put your system away from Electromagnetic equipments i-e router, cell phones, transformer of speaker system etc..

It may be an earth loop, (ground loop). If the mains for your PC is plugged in some distance away from where the Logitech is plugged into the mains. Try to plug them both in side by side into the mains (or even use piggy-back mains plugs if available).

This sounds like EMI, I would try to move the speakers away from anything and also the wall. See if that helps.
this also might help as well.

Make sure your area is clear of any other electronics - especially ones using radio (like cell phones). there could be an issue with interference and you may need shielded cables if you cant get the offending devices away from the speakers.

Lower the volume and might need higher quality sound card that will not pass through computer parts interference.

Why is there a loud humming/buzzing coming from speakers?

As mentioned above, a blown 2200 uF capacitor will cause that buzz. This is from my Altec VS4621. The buzz would be in the sub, then shift to the speakers if connected. I didn't examine the buzz all that long because it's loud af, but you can see the right capacitor is blown and open. IMO it's worth repairing, the caps are about 2 dollars per batch (20), plus time. You can watch plenty of videos on it, or bring some dollars to most repair shops.

Can I use my Logitech x-230 speakers without the sub-woofer? My sub-woofer got busted!! Any suggestions?Perfectly good speakers!

i had the same problem with same speaker system. the amp for this system is inside the bass speaker. if your amp is still working but your bass speaker is not you could cut the wires to that speaker making sure the cut wires do not short out. i was quoted more to repair them than it was to buy a new set. but i wont be buying logitech again as ive had two lots fail.

I have a Boston Acoustics VR-500 Subwoofer with a problem. As soon as anything is plugged into the line level RCA jacks, the subwoofer produces a loud buzz/hum. I have tried connecting it to the subwoofer...

I'm thinking you have an open shield ground on the RCA input side. Connecting speaker inputs possibly restores the ground. Try connecting the high level inputs then disconnect the remote end of the cables (floating the grounds).

Then get out an ohmmeter and find that open circuitor or bad solder joint between RCA ground and real ground in the speaker's amplifier. Or.... if speaker ground kills the hum and you want to use RCA Line Level input to the sub, just connect one minus speaker output on your source amp to one minus on the sub's amp.

Logitech X-530 speaker set plugged in as per instructions delivering sound from only front speakers and sub woofer. Nothing from centre and rears. XP system with ASRock ALiveDual-eSATA2 mother board....

Make sure the cables are plugged in the correct places on your PC. You may need to use the headphone out on the back panel. This depends on your audio card in your PC.

Sound comes out of the right speaker with the z4 volume set at minimum. however the sound can be controlled by the windows volume control. When you turn up the volume on the z4 the left speaker works....

open your subwoofer because main system is inside in your subwoofer than clean it with a air blower ..
this happens when dust is inside the system....

Sub woofer buzzes all the time, do I have to replace the speaker or can this be repaired?

ur sub wont buzz due to bad speaker. either u have a faulty preamp or power amp. yes it can be repaired and will not cost much. if it is loud and annoying, get it repaired. sometimes subs emit low hum when powered up. this is the way the are desinged.

Low sound and buzz from speakers / Hum noise from sub-woofer

Select Start > (right click) My Computer > Manage
In the Management window select > Device Manager
Next to Sound, Video and Game Controllers click the + sign
A yellow triangle will signify a problem so if one is present, right-click that device and select Properties
You can then choose to update the driver

Logitech Z4 Speakers are both Dead.

The wires you put on are probably too small.  The gauge number is too high.  If the wires in the plug are okay, just get some light wire (like is on a table lamp) and use that.  It's similar to what they call monster cable but nowhere as expensive.   It's all about signal flow.
