Question about Saniflo Plumbing

1 Answer

I have a Saniflo which manages waste from a lavatory, a shower, and a sink (all in same room). The saniflo is immediately behind the lavatory, the shower is about 2 m from the saniflow and the sink about 3m. The shower outlet (at feet level) has a head of only about 200mm to inlet of Sanilo. About every 4 years the Saniflo sludges up and I have to remove it and completey clean it out, finding the inlet flapper valves (L and R side of saniflo from shower and sink) are sludged up; there is sludge in the main tank of the Saniflo. Is there a safe product (eg "Drano") I can routinely pass down the shower/sink/lavatory to de-sludge? Is there anything else I can be doing to lessen the need of this my favourite 4-yearly job? There is a product called Wham that works very well for this appplication. You will probably have to go to a plumbing supply outlet to find it. Just follow directions on container after you have the system clean and use monthly. It also helps with odor control. Hope this helps you. Thanks.

Water is flowing back to shower tray macerator not switching on

Usually Saniflo requires 8" or 9" from top of p-trap to floor level, not from top of shower base to floor level. If the base is raised 8" then you will have enough room to fit a p-trap without cutting the concrete, if you had cut the floor to fit the p-trap then the base is not raised high enough to maintain the water pressure inside to engage the unit.

Can i discharge saniflo into bath waste

These usually have a larger drain line than a shower or bath. If you are draining into a smaller drain then there will be a considerable amount of backing up. This is not a good idea. hope this helps. Good luck.
