I swapped hard drives between Miltopes, now I cant get them to boot up. What must be done for them to boot properly ...or did I just destroy my hard drives?

It happens because the hard drives come from two different machines. Basically even it's the same operating system, each machine apart has a different configuration.
Reinstall everything with the hard drive attached to the desired machine.

Asus k50ij hard drive replaced with alternate hard drive from other notebook drive is detected in bios but will not boot

This is to be expected. When Windows is installed on a computer, it installs drivers specific to the hardware on that computer. If you remove the hard drive and put it in a different computer it will not load properly because it is not loading the proper drivers for the new computer. This will work if you swap to exactly the same hardware or something close enough but in this case it seems the hardware is too different.

Fatal issue: Reboot and Select proper Boot device

Issue:

Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device

Cause:

The boot record could not find a bootable partition so control was passed back to the BIOS. This issue occurs prior to the start of any Windows code.

It can be caused by a power-failure while the disk is in the middle of writing, a virus damaged the entry, a failing disk drive or a serious software bug damaged the partition entry (although Windows typically protects against this). This issue cannot be easily caused by any action you performed, unless you turned off the power without going through Windows shutdown.

Workaround:

1. If you had changed, added or removed hard drives, or changed or removed drive cabling, likely something is wrong. Recheck that the drives are properly installed and the cabling has not changed. Switching cables to different motherboard connectors or changing the master/slave drive jumpers (on old ATA drives) can cause this problem. In some systems, the cables were not plugged into the drive or motherboard securely and may have worked loose. Reseat all drive connectors.

2. It's also possible a hard drive is failing. Use a system diagnostic to validate the drive or swap to another hard disk.

3. If the first bootable drive is missing (disconnected or dead) the BIOS may be attempting to boot from a second disk. Confirm the primary drive is working.

Hope this will help...Your response is very much appreciated...
Will a C-drive swapped from one laptop to another laptop boot?

the c drive is a partition of the hard drive and that means that by swapping hard drives then the system will boot from the different hard drive and open up the c- drive

Cant boot only says cant find operating system uncle says it needs a new hard drive, is it true ?

not always. you didnt state what system you have so all of this may not work for you. first if you have a floppy drive, check that there is not a disk in the drive. check your cdrom or DVD.
the hard drive can be removed and hooked into another computer to be checked.
read this article and you will get more info.
i do not know your level of knowledge of the workings of a computer of if you have done anything new to the unit, so this article should help you a little more.

Hard drive replaced. But does not recognize hard drive. Old hard drive but back But does not recognize hard drive.

open the CPU and check whether it properly connected (both the wires sata cable and power cable)
then check in BIOS. is it detected if it is then change the boot device priority..
if its not detected then try to swap the wires with optical drive..
still not then change the HDD

Swapped hard drive into new casw and now it wont boot up

This is due to a hardware conflict.
The system drivers on the hard drive are for the old mother board and devices,You will have to reinstall OS while it is install on the new mother board,The computer cannot boot to a drive that is loaded to another system unless all the devices and drive are identical.

Please rate this a fixya

Software raid/ide

it won't touch them, it should ask you which partition you want to boot from, or which version of windows if your boot.ini files are on the same drive.

Hp hard drives

You can put the defective HDD in a computer thats running correctly and use the existing OS to gain access to it. That way you can extract all the info from it. Do not remove the main HDD, simply shut down the PC, open it, add the Hard Disk Drive to the MOBO and restart. you may get an option to decide which HDD you want to boot from, make sure you boot from the good one.
Make a file and extract all info.
If the new computer does not recognize the drive, there are steps you can take to find it.
I've done this hundreds of times and have had around 87% success.
Unfortunately, some HDD's are destroyed and no data can be extracted.

Good Luck
