Have you already attempted to reset the iPod? If not you will want to attempt that as your first step towards resolving this issue. To do so you will need to simply press and hold both the center and menu buttons for at least ten seconds or until the apple icon appears on the screen. If this does not resolve your issue please do let me know. Also in the future if the iPod seems to be frozen on the do not disconnect screen, shut down the computer and reset the iPod before disconnecting it. Improper disconnection can cause hardware corruption.
Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps!

OK what you need to do is reset it. To do this you will need to hold down the menu and select buttons simultaneously for approx 6 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen. This should reset and un freeze your ipod.
