The bulbs on projection tv's are typically designed to be replaced by the owner of the TV. They are a big pricey though. Do a good search online to try and get the best price. There will usually be instructions included with the replacement bulb. If not, visit RCS's website and download the manual. The unit that needs to be replace is typically located on the back of tv and secured with several screws. There will be a wiring harness to unplug and the unit will slide out. Just replace the bulb and reinstall the unit. Remember to NEVER touch the bulb itself with bare hands. Any oils from your skin can cause the bulb to prematurely burn up or even break immediatly when turned on.

You need to replace bad DMD chip - contact Mitsubishi for replacement bulb, if you have a local tv repair that can fix it for you, Mitsubishi will send the bulb to them. I just had this happen to me a month ago. Cost me $174, Mitsubishi wanted $225 to send out their repairman.

My rca dlp doesn't turn on

You probably need a new projector bulb. Google up your model and buy the best warranteed one you can find. Buy a "caged assembly" and not just a bare bulb.

Then unplug your tv and get a screwdriver. Follow your model's instructions and just snug down the electrical screws. Do not overtighten them.

Then consult your manual on how to reset the lamp timer so it knows you put a new bulb in and fires up from the first try.

Treat yourself because you've just saved yourself a trip from a repairman!!

I heard a pop in the TV and then the screen went red. I can still hear it and watch it but everything is red. Is it a bulb that needs replacing? If not, what is it? Can I do it myself or will I have to...

Several failures can cause a red picture but it sounds like if you are connected from the source with component video cables(red, blue, green)you may just have a bad cable, but you may have had a blue and/ or green projection gun failure, which would cause the red gun to over power the other colors(blue/green), if this is the case definently not worth the cost to repair, you have to replace all three guns at the same time costing $500+ to repair, invest that towards a nice new LCD panel TV. Good luck !

TV wont turn on. Only blue and red light flashes

You need to replace the power supply board. The new ones have a bigger heat sink - obviously JVC knows about the problem because they made the new ones bigger. It cost $250 from JVC and I installed it myself - took about 3 hours to do. If you are not tech savvy call a repairman. Hope this helps.
