If the fax machine hasn't gone into an error state, the only things you cannot do are print a fax or print from the computer. You should be able to receive a fax to memory until you get ink, or receive to the computer and scan and fax out and make calls.

SOURCE: I am trying to align my ink carts. I have printed

This happens on several All-in-One devices, including Brothers. Your device is not sensing the document in the ADF ( Automatic Document Feeder ). These, like the others, are mechanical vs. an optical sensor. Look in where the paper is fed into the ADF, and make sure that the mechanical arm is showing. It would be a small plastic piece, usually near the middle, to accomodate smaller scans and would be 90 degrees or perpendicular to the scan tray and "hanging" off of the top, sometimes the bottom, but typically the top. If you see something that closely resembles the description stop. Home Use All-in-One ADFs are notorious for looking like they have a big mouth, but actually can only handle about 10 sheets at a time, max. If your paper count is only the one, calibration page, pull the page back and reinsert it, pushing slighly harder until the paper starts to bow. If you have a LCD menu screen, watch to see if it acknowledges the paper being in there. On the Brothers, the text says ADF ready, when the paper is sensed from properly being insterted, deep enough. On all printers, including all-in-ones, the Mfgr accounts for paper jambs in the print path by making doors that you can pull out jambed or crumpled papers. Open each of those doors, verify that there is no jambed page somewhere, then reclose the door, snapping it closed firmly. Rerun your calibration page. This should resolve your issue ? TIP: If you are having trouble getting the paper to pickup and transfer through the entire paper path, get a clean cloth and some standard isopropyl alcohol. Wipe down all of the rubber wheels, 360 deg on each one. Slightly time consuming, but only need to do it annually or when the issues arises 'paper slippage'. This process restores the "grip" back into the rollers without destroying the rubber. If you see a lot of 'paper dust', buy a can of "compressed air" to blow out the dust. Typical problem since paper is made of compressed fibers. Good luck. I would appreciate your rating of my answers.

"The yellow 'Alarm' light will not go off after changing cartridges.

Try removing and reinserting the cart. Or try a new cart. It sounds like it's not recognizing that a new cart has been inserted. It could be a faulty/sticky switch where the cart is detected.

My cannon MP830 is leaking back ink. Is there

Take out the black cart and have a look at the top surface - you'll probably find that the label has torn back too far. This lets too much air into the top of the cart and consequently the ink is free to run out of the bottom.
You'll most likely have to throw that cart and get a new one. Clean the inside of the printer with kitchen roll, making sure you get as much ink out from the area where the head parks at the side.

Just want to SCAN, with image going to computer

machine always refuses ANY function if a color is empty.

You can cheat the machine by sticking some thin black adhesive tape around the cart nose (looking from above onto the cartholder within the printer it is the right hand side of the cart).

This signals the machine a full cart.

Changing ink cartiage

ab-e - open the lid, the cart will move to the center, use your index finger on the top of the cart. push down and out. Here's the instructions from Lexmark's site.

Hope that fixed ya...

Guest: The lid switch must be bad, you can manually slide the cart assembly with your fingers if need be.

"NO CARTRIDGE" MESSAGE ON BROTHER-425CN

try this:
take all carts out. Unplug machine from power outlet. wait 5 min. leave scanner top open. rplug to power. wait til machine demands carts. reinsert and secure the carts. close cover. answer questions on display. set date and time again in case its not displayed.

If you still receive message use another cart of a diffrent brand. There are many generic carts with bad construction and bad ink out on market.

Best way: refill original brother carts. drill a 2mm hole on top into the brand name (O of brother). refill C/Y/M with a mix of 2ml 85%-glycerol (glycerin alc.) from drugstore and 10ml of DYE ink (shake well before refilling). For BK use 15ml DYE ink mixed with 1.5 ml gylcerol
shke very well before refill.

Brother mfc210c

two ways to refill lc41:

drill a 2 mm hole into the brandname (e.g. O of brother ) on top of the cart. You can leave the hole open and leave the carts in the printer in future for further refilling ;-)

The cart can be refilled by inserting a syringe without a needle into the ink Outlet(!) at the bottom, too. Carefully press a 12ml for C/Y/M and ca. 15ml - 18ml for BK into the carts.

Anyway:
Do use DYE-ink only!
Important: You must mix the dye-ink with some 85%-glycerin alc. to keep the print head nozzels alive = 10ml ink with 2ml glycerin alc (drugstore).
For BK: 15ml ink + 1,5ml glycerin alc!

YELLOW INK LOSE

Take all carts out. Have a close look into the cart holder. If you have lost ink it will be beneath the cart holder! That might be because the cart holder leaks. You need a new cart holder then. You have to open the printers top cover, carefully take the holder out, clean the bottom of printer and replace the holder with a new one.

This happens sometimes because the glue which fastens the foil (this is the bottom of the holder!) lost its adhesivness.
