I have a Nikon Coolpix L5 and I can no longer see any images on the screen. I can take pictures and when I pull them up on the computer they are there, but I can't see them on the screen. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.


The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.


Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Picasa or any other photo cataloging program.

The SD card maybe faulty, try a different SD card.

1. Get a cardreader. (they're cheap and faster than using your camera for downloading)2. Create a folder on your desktop.3. insert your memory card into the card reader and plug the USB end into a USB port on your computer.4. An Icon will either appear on your desktop or a "removable drive" will appear in "my computer".5. Double click on whichever appears to see your picture files.6. Click on CTRL A to highlight all of them.7. Drag and drop them into the file you created on your desktop.8. Use the "safely remove hardware" function (in the tray in the lower right of your screen) to remove the cardreader.9. Double-click on the folder and it will open with your picture files.

Go into the Setup menu and select "Copy".

I have nikon coolpix L5, i just brought a 4gb memory card that's supposed to be compatible, but when i go to take a picture it say You cannot use this card?

First do a windows update, see if you have all the current versions of software on your computer. Then install the nikon software on your computer. If that fails, I recommend using a card reader to download your photos to your computer. Card readers are quicker and don't use any battery power to download either.

That is the only Nikon software that supports Vista since your camera is "outdated".

PTP (models supporting the PTP protocol) and Mass storage USB transfer options can be used for camera connection. However, the camera's transfer button can not be used to transfer pictures over a PTP connection. Set the USB transfer option to Mass storage to enable the camera's transfer button.
  Currently, the new Nikon Transfer and View NX will replace Picture Project as our new Image Transfer and Browser applications. These applications support the same Nikon products as Picture Project.
