Hi Anton. I have a couple of these Commodore mp3 players, yes you do need software installed on your PC to make Windows recoginise the connection, and yes it will work with Windows XP, I have never upgraded to Vista or Windows 7 and I regularly update the music on my players. Email me at: johnf.mojacar@gmail and I will send you the software, it's less than 800 Kbs so no problem with size. Knidest regards, John Furley.

Boot sequence for emachine M6811

As SOON as you press the Power On button, start tapping on the DELete key.
Tap in 2 second intervals.

You may hear beeps. This is a Stuck Key Error Beep. (Or beeps)
Ignore the beeps.

You will now be in the BIOS Setup utility.

The BIOS program is made by Phoenix.
It is Version NSF03.P0
Release date - 07/28/2004

http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2170#specs

Scroll the page down a little, until you come to the bold heading -
EMachines Desktop Replacement Notebook Specs

Scroll down until you see the sub-heading - Detailed specs
Left-click on - Click here to See appendix for detailed specs
Now look under the bold heading - DMI, and [ BIOS ]

When you are in the BIOS Setup utility, you CANNOT use your mouse
anymore. You have to use your Keyboard.

At the top of the BIOS Setup utility you will see headings;
Main, Advanced, Security, Power, Boot, and Exit.

The BIOS Setup utility automatically opens to the Main screen.

Use the Right Arrow key, and stop on the - Boot - tab

What is listed is a Boot Order.
In the list of the Boot Order are Boot Devices.

What is at the TOP is the first boot device the laptop will boot from.

Should be;
1) CD-ROM Drive
2) Removable Devices
3) Hard Drive
4) Network

Having CD-ROM Drive at the top allows you to install a different Operating System, that the laptop did not have from the factory.

ALSO; Windows DOES NOT like to be written over, with a lesser operating system, or the SAME version of operating system.

Examples;
Trying to install Windows 98SE, on a Windows computer that has Windows XP on it.

Trying to install Windows XP, on a Windows computer that has Windows XP already on it.

Using CD-ROM Drive as the first boot device, will allow you to install what you wish.

[ Doesn't work for installing Windows XP over Windows Vista. There is a special procedure ]

My computer just stop to producing sound from speakers even the welcoming window xp sound,

Hi,

The audio driver might have been corrupted. You just need to download the appropriate audio driver for your motherboard. Go to the Device Manager and install all missing drivers for "Unknown Devices". Either connect to the internet or use the driver disc which came with your motherboard.

For those who doesn't know how to access Device Manager, please follow the steps below.

For Windows XP:
Start -> Run -> Type devmgmt.msc (in the box) -> Right click Unknown device -> Properties -> Driver tab -> Update driver

For Windows Vista and Windows 7
Start -> Type devmgmt.msc (in the start search box) -> Right click Unknown device -> Properties -> Driver tab -> Update driver

Hope this helps.

Need xp drivers for HCL milleap having ubuntu os. want to remove ubuntu (linux) & reinstall windows xp on HCL mileap V series. Need drivers for the same

It could be that you need xp drivers for your sata hd, but it can be a problem 'cos even when you get it, xp cd will not even start to let you install them. Maybe you find bootable drivers, i don't know. Or maybe you obtain some -special version of xp with drivers for your sata preppared. And finally you can just install Vista, it should have the drivers.

I have a windows xp computer and it will not connect to a monitor

Your video card is damaged or the monitor is damaged. The next to and last thing is that the monitor is no compatible with windows. Even though Windows_xp can and will install a universal driver when it can't find an original driver for a special hardware.
Are you connecting the VGA monitor (assume) to the 9 pin or the 12 pin D male plug

Hard drive driver problem

Hi,

It is possible that your hard drive is a SATA and therefore not readily readable by 98, XP but surprised not even by Vista. In any case, since you would still prefer to run XP (due to other software compatibility issues), pls press F6 when prompted by the XP installer. Additionally, you would need to have ready in a floppy the appropriate SATA drivers for your motherboard. They maybe downloaded from the motherboard manufacturer's website or possibly in the installer/driver CD that came with the PC.

Other than the above, it is also possible that you may have some issues with the availability of XP drivers for the other devices for that computer specially if it is branded.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Motherboard upgrade

The different hardware components on the new motherboard require different drivers that what are already loaded on your installation of Windows. My guess is something requires a driver that the base Windows driver install will not cover and as a result errors out and restarts. I too have tried this trick on several occasions, sometimes it work and sometimes it doesn?t; however, the key is similar hardware. My guess would be IDE controller, video, chipset or perhaps USB 2.0 is causing your problem. What you can do perhaps is boot into Windows safe mode and try to figure out what is causing the problem. In the long run it may save time and aggravation by just reinstalling Windows ?? Let us know how it turns out.
