I recently bought a non working Pioneer DEH-P6850MP off Ebay and found that the ribbon between the face and deck was the problem .When the ribbon was given a bit of a wriggle the deck would fire up and the face would go back in .Dont know if this helps but i didnt see any other helpful hints anywhere ?
Yes it can be fixed, my shop charges about $90 for that repair. it includes parts and labor. Other shops may differ, but that is a pretty good estimate of what most shops would charge.

You will need to remove the metal connector jack that is soldered on to the ribbon cable and put it on the new ribbon cable. If you are not good with a soldering iron, you should just take it in. It would be cheaper than buying a new one.
go into your tools menu by pressing the center of the multi knob.(the volume control knob) turn same knob to bring up the entertainment field, press center of knob to set then turn till you get to the prompt about alternating screen. switch to no. done.
