Hello pphoo.... the scanner function on this wireless printer is not wireless. Therefore, in order to scan you must hook up the USB cord between the printer and the computer. Joe
Insert the CD that came with your scanner into your computer's
optical drive. Wait for the auto-run feature to launch the installation
program. If auto-run doesn't work, open the Start menu and click
"Run." In the Run dialog box, type "x:/setup.exe" replacing
"x" with the letter of your optical drive and removing the quotation
marks. When installation is complete, you will see a small camera icon in your
task bar. Plug the USB cable into an open USB port on your computer. Plug the other
end into the scanner. Scan your documents or photos. Once the scanner is connected,
the HP Scanner dialog box will appear. You can then insert your documents into
the scanner and start scanning. Click the "Tell me more" button to
learn more about your scanner
Try reinstalling the software using the drivers from HP.com. If you go to HP.com and type in the model number into their search bar it will usually pull the printer right up. Then select drivers and downloads and find the software using your operating system. Simply download and reinstall the software and it should work just fine.
