I have a "12 kicker l7 in a ported box, with a jl audio 500/1 monoblock amp, it was working fine the first few weeks now it shuts on and off and sometimes doesn't come back on. Any suggestions?

If it is the amplifier that is shutting on and off:
Check to make sure the power and ground wires for the amp are secure, with no fraying, knicks or exposed wire. Check your fuses and connections to make sure everything is correct. Also look at the grounding location. be sure there is exposed metal around the grounding point (paint may cause intermittent power problems). Lastly, the amplifier's remote wire may be improperly secured to the wiring harness. Check the harness for exposed wire grounding out connections.
If the amplifier is continuously on, the subwoofer may be to blame. Check and double check wiring schematics to ensure correct ohms rating.

I have a jl 500/1 pops fuses some times could it be im pulling too much power from the battery because i dont have a cap or extra battery im running at 2ohm with a 15 inch kicker l5

Seems like the KICKER is pulling to much power try to knock it back up to 4ohm and see what happens. If its fine that way then you might need a bigger amp.

Yes, but make "jumpers" of the SAME GAGE wiring to the each sub in series - BEFORE you go to the amp connections. Good Luck!

Got jl300/2 amp confused which subwoofer sounds good

JL W6's will perform well with from 150-600 watts RMS. W7's with from 150-500 watts. Less expensive Alpine Type R's work OK with from 200-500 watts RMS. Either of the brands will sound good. None of them will perform to their full potential with 300 watts RMS. Powering any sub with a 2-channel amp is a compromise. A monoblock is more efficient.

Hello juan_penaloz,

The Kicker L7 has an RMS power range of from 50-750 watts and a maximum power handling capability of 1,500 watts so your Sony amp will power it OK. A more powerful monoblock like the Alpine MRP-M1000 or the Kicker 08ZX750.1 would provide even more power and could operate safely at 2ohms.

You have the voice coils wired properly for the Sony amp. It's OK to have the sub impedance higher, but you definitely do not want it lower than the 4ohms the amp is rated at in bridged mode.
