Format the card in the camera if you can. If not format it FAT in windows with a card reader and then reformat in the camera.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.

Why, when i take a picture and try to see it it comes up with a picture error on my sp-600z camera

The manual says:

Problem with selected image
Use photo retouch software, etc. to view the image on a computer. If the image still cannot be viewed, the image file is corrupted.

But try this. Switch of the camera, remove the battery and memory card. Check if all contacts are clean and shiny. On the battery, on the memory card and in the camera. Then replace the battery and memory card and switch on.
I hope this solves the problem.

Card error message

Without knowing the error I can not help you. I would recommend investing a new camera, or buying one used from amazon.com for $5.

Card error or camra on or of problem

If the camera was working properly while taking the pictures on this card then the problem lies with the card. Format the memory card, formatting the memory card cleans previously taken pictures and allows for new pictures to be made. Even if you are using a "new" card it needs to be formatted to the camera it's being used in. Your camera dates back to 2004 so a problem I recently ran into with my own camera was I needed to update the "firmware" when I tried to use a memory card larger then 2gig. If you have just purchase a new card and it is larger then what you have been using this might be the case as well. The card error message may also be caused by removing the memory card from the computer without "ejecting" or "safely remove" which shuts off the connection to the card then disconnect. Another reason is if the user constantly deletes pictures and doesn't format.
Hope this was helpful not not confusing.

Hmm....
Seems like your Memory Card already damaged and corrupted. If you still want to use it, try formatting it using your Computer, again and again.
If the problem still persist, there's no other way, you have to buy the new ones.

We have a new olympus camera 1010 and cannot get the camera to use the card to store photos it only wants t use the internal memery help!!

This camera takes 16MB -2GB cards. When you insert the card, make sure that it is formatted. Usually when you insert a new card or one that was formatted for a different camera (or a PC), the Olympus 1010 will ask you to either "Clean card" or "format".

Once you have it formatted, the camera automatically defaults to storing pictures on the card. When the card is removed it will start storing back to the internal memory.

You should see an small icon on the bottom right of the camera windows display when you are taking pictures as shown on page 63 of the manual. When the xD card is installed, you should not see this icon.

If you have a faulty xD card or one that is unrecognizable, you should see error messages like those on page 57 of the same manual.

You can always go to the MENU button and click the RESET button to restore the factory default setting. Make sure you remove the xD memory card before resetting your camera. Take one or two pictures without the card and then insert the card and see if the pictures are stored in the xD card now.

"Memory card requires formatting"

This error message means that the card is corrupted or formatted for another digital camera. Turn off the camera. Insert a new card or format the card. CAUTION: Formatting deletes all pictures and videos, including those that are protected. Removing a card during formatting may damage the card.
